I know it's not amongst the popular topics on the board but what a surprise this week on American Idol. Last night on Idol's give back and then Opening the show tonight the remaining 8 contestants sang "Shout to the Lord" Thought that was pretty cool. Not as good as the Skillet version but none the less surprising for this show. Ok now back to the rock chats

Wow.. that IS a surprise! Sounds like maybe the networks are trying to expand their audience and get more Christians to watch.

Well now it seems the big controversy is why they changed the words in the first line from....

"My Jesus my Savior" to "My Shepherd my Savior"

Then my wife says the following night (last night) they sang it again, but this time put Jesus back in the song. (strange)

Many evangelicals are a little peeved that they were trying to make the song "generically spiritual". Don't wanna use that "Jesus" word, you might offend somebody. Of course the athiests/agnostics saw right through that, and it appears many of them are peeved as well.

Hmmm... gets more interesting as time goes on! Too bad I don't have cable... I'd have to tune in and check out all the hub-bub... of course, I'm sure that's exactly WHY they're doing all this - they probably WANT controversy so that more people WILL tune in to find out what it's all about.

I know they used the line "My Jesus My Savior Lord There is none like you" on Thursday and I thought they used it on Tuesday as well. Either way they didn't politcally correct it, as I thought they would. I thought it was bold of AI to do something like that. Came out of nowhere
