PostSubject: Prayer, Thankfulness and Time   Mon May 19, 2008 2:11 am

Ok, so there I was just thinking (a strange thing to happen to me, but hey!) and a came upon the God given benefit of prayer. Now, when we prayer we often ask for something, some kind of benefit for us but sometimes when we get an answer to our prayers in the way we want them we then don't thank God for the answer very much at all. Say we pray everyday for a year for something to happen, then when it does we say "thanks" once and then move on to the next thing.

I was wondering, as God is outside of time, maybe it's not just the prayers of asking that He's looking out for, but also the thanks after the prayers have been answered. Maybe if we don't thank Him afterwards He sometimes doesn't give us what we want.

So, maybe if we want a new house and keep praying for it, but God doesn't give us a new house, it's because God knows that once we'd get the house we wouldn't have said thank you in the same way that we prayed when we wanted it.

Obviously this is a question we can't answer, and I don't think it would ever be (if it were true) the case that it would happen all the time, but what does everyone else think of that idea.

Most of my personal prayers are actually prayers of thanksgiving.
We have so much to be thankful for, the roof over our heads, the food we get to eat, our family and loved ones.

Great observation Fundy.

God is a loving Father for us.
He loves our praise and worship and when we thank Him for the good things we get from Him.
God is not the Father not to give us things because He doesn't get our thankfulness and thank for it.

That's why it's good to say "thank You Lord" for all You give us"
To praise His name.
I often don't have the words to praise God and then I sing praise songs for God.
"Juicht want Jezus is Heer"
"Rejoice because Jesus is Lord".
