Japanese woman caught living in a man's closet

Police found the 58-year-old woman Thursday hiding in the top compartment of the man's closet and arrested her for trespassing, police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday. The resident of the home installed security cameras that transmitted images to his mobile phone after becoming puzzled by food disappearing from his kitchen over the past several months. One of the cameras captured someone moving inside his home Thursday after he had left, and he called police believing it was a burglar. However, when they arrived they found the door locked and all windows closed. "We searched the house ... checking everywhere someone could possibly hide," Itakura said. "When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side." The woman told police she had no place to live and first sneaked into the man's house about a year ago when he left it unlocked. She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman "neat and clean."

Wow that is strange, and kind of scary. I couldn't imagine someone living (almost undetected) in my house for so long.

Talk about doing crazy things for free rent!


I would be terrified to learn that someone lived in my house secretly besides my wife & I. I know the lady was just needing a cheap place to stay, but it also reminds me of a couple of horror movies I saw years ago about someone living in the house stalking the family for months before attacking them.

You could say that this incident brings new meaning to the phrase "coming out of the closet".

That would be known as a "time" joke....I'll laugh when I have "time".

I actually think Sabidoo is jealous of the man in the news story. That dude had a tiny Asian chick hiding in his closet. The closest thing Sabidoo had was Harold the Wonder Possum hiding in his house.

Didn't a VERY similar story take place in/around Nashville a year or two ago? I seem to remember the story. Ended up with the homeowner getting dead or something.

I will see if I can find the story.
