PostSubject: Prayers for a family friend   Tue Jul 01, 2008 7:22 am

Please pray for the Robinson family of Lebanon, TN. Billy Robinson was the pastor I had for over a decade. He was the one who led me to Christ and helped me get started preaching. Yesterday afternoon, his wife Robbie appears to have had some form of stroke. Her blood pressure was through the roof, and she has bleeding on the brain. She has no visible paralysis, but she cannot remember names of even her own family--much less people from the church. The bleeding on the brain could easily be life threatening for Miss Robbie.

Any and all prayers would be appreciated.

Robbie took a turn for the worse yesterday. The bleeding on her brain had increased and her brain was swelling. She was dying. The doctors told the family that they could a) do nothing and let her die, b) hook her up to a ventilator and see if she improved, or c) attempt to do brain surgery and stop the bleeding/vent the blood from her cranial area. They did not expect her to make it through the surgery, either.

But, last night she had made it through the surgery. She was on a ventilator, but only to support her own breathing. She did move some to outside stimuli, but she isn't out of the woods yet. They have to keep potential brain swelling down, so they are keeping her heavily sedated and on the ventilator for 72 hours. Bleeding could also reoccur, and they said they would not be able repeat the procedure. If all goes well, she then will have to go to a rehab facility to relearn some movements and have speech therapy for several months.

Right now, brother dear, I don't think she's too worried about anyone's hair length.

Thank you for the update (even if the news wasn't all that fantastic). It still sounds as if they need quite a bit of prayer.

Miss Robbie is breathing totally on her own now. The docs removed her breathing tube. Also, she is doing some moving by command, has waived at visitors, has smiled behind her oxygen mask, and has even spoken once. So, even though she's still got a long road ahead, God is slowly putting Miss Robbie back together.

Keep praying, folks!

I filled in for Bro. Billy today. It was tough with him not being there due to being at the hospital with Miss Robbie. But, I was glad I could help out.

Miss Robbie was able to brush her own teeth today and is speaking a lot more. But, she had to be sedated when they tried to give her a bath. She got highly agitated when they tried to bathe her and she couldn't help them.

On a brighter note, the doctors have said that if she continues to improve so well that she could only be in the hospital for a couple of months.

Miss Robbie is being quite the stinker. She keeps trying to take her feeding tube out, and so they have had to put these special mittens on her hands so she can't do that. But, she has figured out how to get out of those mittens!

She is talking quite a bit more now. Some of it is still pure gibberish, but she is also saying a lot of things right. She also has a lot of her motor skills intact. So, I think rehab would be a great thing for her when her doctors let her out of ICU.

She did tell her daughter Jan last night that she was hungry and wanted some sausage and biscuits. I think if I was her doctor that I would try her on it and see if she can eat. Then, they wouldn't have to worry with the feeding tube. But, then again, I'm a musician and preacher. What do I know about medicine? LOL

Is there news about Miss Robbie's situation?
Is there progress for her?

How is pastor Bobby doing?
I think he's much in the hospital to be with his wife, but is responsible for a congregation too.

Miss Robbie is doing a lot better now. She has been moved to a rehab hospital in Lebanon where she will undergo a lot of speech therapy. So, she's still got a lot of recovering to do, but she is no longer in danger.

I am very glad to hear Miss Robbie is doing better and her life is not in danger anymore.
It might be a tough way for her to go.
God will help her to recover and help her with the speech therapy.
