We had a Rev. speak at our service yesterday who used to be a missionary for OMF for many years. He told us this story.

A couple of missionaries had spent ages witnessing in a village in indonesia (I believe) and decided it was time to go back to their home many miles away. The only road back was a winding road that led through the forests. Bumping up and down on the rutted track in their jeep they turned a bend only to discover an huge tree blocking their path. It was the only way through and there was no way to move it as it was soooo big.

One of the guys in the jeep (not a christian) said 'Why don't you pray and ask God to move it'. So the missionary prayed for God to move the tree. Nothing happened.

Just then they noticed a side road and one of the people in the jeep said there was a village down there and maybe God wanted them to witness to the people in that village. Knowing that there was nothing else to do, as they were stuck, they drove to the little village and stayed there 10 days.

After their time there they decided to go back and journey home.

They drove back up the road and turned right onto the winding road once again. They turned the bend and.........

the tree was still there, stuck in the middle of the road.

Once again the missionary prayed.

They sat there wondering what to do........

All of a sudden a little man appeared from the jungle and asked what the problem was. They said they couldn't get through as the tree was blocking the road! The little man said he would return in a short while.

Later he came back with an elephant and the elephant moved the tree and allowed the car to continue it's journey.

Before they left the missionaries thanked the little man for his help, and asked what he was doing in this part of the jungle (he wasn't native to that area).

He said that 10 days ago, all of a sudden his elephant went charging off in to the jungle and he went running after it. It was only today that he'd caught up with it and just around the bend from where the tree was!

10 days ago was the exact day when the missionary asked for God's help!

Jesus did tell us that if we even had the faith as small as a mustard seed (very tiny!), that we could speak to mountains and move them. It looks like these missionaries relearned that lesson. Praise God that His power & might is still being shown today!
