| How they do that in the US? Yep the license number of your car. Do you get once a new license number? Or when you sell your car you get a new license number?
Here you get a license number when you buy an other car. So every time you buy an other car you get a new license number. |

| Varies by state but they usually change when you get a new car or every few years. Some states allow custom plates for more money you can keep. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| In our state you keep the same license plate/number when you buy a used car. But every 3 to 5 years the state sends you a new liscense plate/number. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| We keep the same number until our state redesigns the official plate. Each year, you just get new stickers to put on the old plate to update it. If you get a new car, you can pay a fee to transfer your old tags to the new car. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

What I mean is that the car keeps the same plates from owner to owner, and every 3 to 5 years the state forces you to change your entire license plate. We also have to pay yearly tabs, and put the stickers on our plates each year. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| The latest trick of Southern California thieves is "changing license numbers". The most recent guy who got caught had robbed several places and got away in his own car since he changed his license plate numbers with every hit. When he finally got caught in the act, they found his license plate had been airbrushed with different numbers, covered up, and changed again. |

| I know a family here who makes their own license plates. When I was working at the sign shop, I made a permanent version of it for them. It says "For household use only".
Apparently it is the law that you only have to license your vehicle if you are going to use it for commercial purposes. I admire them, but I do not want to have to spend hours on the side of the road, arguing with the police, which they have been known to do. |

| Oh man that is almost as crazy as the 36 hour baseball game.
Kind of sounds like those people who try to tell you it is legal to not pay income tax. (Kent Hovand anyone?) _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| we keep the same license plate indefinitely. if we buy a new car, we put the old plate on the new car. the only thing that changes is the tag indicating each new year in the upper-righthand corner. you get that tag when you get your new registration each year [after paying the property tax on your car]. |
