PostSubject: Playing this Sunday   Wed Aug 13, 2008 4:50 am

This Sunday, Aug. 17, I'll be returning to the Wilson Co. Fair. I'll be playing with Tim (ddrums), Jessica, and Rick Burns doing a mostly rock worship set. We'll be playing from 2 pm to 4 pm.

That sounds good.
I remember you played on the Wilson Co.Fair last years.

Two hours on stage?
That's long, that means you have to play a lot of songs.
Do you have a playlist?
I'm interested to see what you are going to play?
Hope the audience is enthusiast and ask for more.

Hey rock on for Jesus there.

As I recall, you really wailed on the accordion last year.

Oh yes! Rock out Weird Al style.

But in all seriousness, did you do a 2 hour long set last time? That is a considerable number of tunes. Do you get a break?

We did have 2 hours to play last year. We took a break--especially since it was well over 100 degrees in the shade. We only had about 13 songs, so we started the set over again to fill the time.

This year we have 21 songs and can easily fill two hours. We'll probably still take a break, but not as long as last year.

This Sunday could be fun, though. The fair usually has Sunday as their "faith & family" day and they give discounts to people who bring their church bulletin to the ticket stands. There are going to be several atheist groups there protesting this year. So, it could be interesting since we'll be playing worship tunes!

OK, now that I have sat down and typed out the setlist for tomorrow, I'd thought I share.

If We Are The Body
Amazing Love
You Are So Good To Me
Are You Listening?
Surrender
Strong Tower
Talkin' 'Bout Jesus
Here I Am To Worship
This Fragile Breath
God With Us
Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
My Savior My God
Draw Me Close To You
I Will Worship You
Your Love, Oh Lord
Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing)
City On A Hill
God Of Wonders
Every Move I Make/Lord, I Lift Your Name On High
Undo
Heart Of Worship

Should be an interesting day. The Wilson Co. Fair always has a "faith and family" day where people can bring their church bulletins and get a $2 discount to get into the fair. Well, a couple of national atheist groups caught wind of it and are protesting since our fairground is owned by the county. They are claiming that there is supposed to be a separation of church & state under the USA Constitution. Well, the fairgrounds ARE owned by the county, but they lease the property out to a private company that brings in the fair. The atheist groups are suing, and they are supposed to be there protesting.

However, to make things easier, the fair management has declared that this year be called the "God & Country" day this Sunday. So, they will accept church bulletins or newletters dated anytime from Friday through Sunday. Also, for religious groups that want to partake of the discount, they can print off something from their organization's website. For the atheists, they are allowing them to print off a statement from their group's website as long as it mentions the Wilson Co. Fair. Basically, anyone can get a $2 discount.

So, atheists are supposed to be protesting. I'm not worried--I'm there just to worship the Lord for 2 hours. If things get out of hand, we'll pack it in and go home. But, maybe things will go smoothly and someone will hear a song that will draw them closer to Jesus Christ. Who knows? God does, and I think it will be a lot of fun. If Sunday's performance goes as well as Monday night's practice did, then these two hours will fly by!

God will show you what to do and you never know how God will work things out for those atheists.
For you and the band have a great time this afternoon.

The playlist is great. Very cool songs.

We are curious to hear later how it went, the two hours gig and the actions of the atheists.
Good luck ...
