| I find myself curious as to where everyone got his or her handle (I guess they're called user names more commonly).
The root of mine is pretty obvious to most people. Disposable HERO. "Disposable Heroes." The song by Metallica off their Master Of Puppets album. I first used the name as my Counter-Strike name many years ago (after going through a few others, mostly Tolkien related). I would alternate between [EGBT]Disposable_HERO and [EGBT]Master_Of_Puppets as my CS names (with people just calling me DH). And the name Disposable HERO stuck as the name I use for pretty much every forum now, whenever it's not taken.
What about the rest of you? |

| I started a thread very similar to this several years ago. Very cool idea. I started posting right here on this board (about 3 years ago) and had a really difficult time picking a name. I was looking for something that rocked, so I kept trying stuff like "777Rocker" "WhiteMetal" etc. and I couldn't find a single one that wasn't being used by anyone else. So in desperation I settled on a nick-name given to me when I was in the Army. My last name begins with the letters "ST" and "Staybrite" is a brand of military medals that are chromed or laquered so as to not require any polishing. I was one of the first privates in my unit to ever recieve an Army Commendation medal. So to kind of rub my nose in it and applaud me at the same time, my platoon seargent started calling me "Staybrite". For some reason it caught on with the other soldiers in my unit and they all called me that. So it doesn't really have anything to do with being happy and having a positive outlook, but lots of people seem to think so. Not a bad idea, as I have struggled with mild to moderate depression for much of my life. The bad part is that because of my name some people think I am a woman. Not the case at all (as my wife can contest). _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I used to have the nickname mishonhairy that I used at various chat rooms. But, after some negative happening/choices, I felt the need to leave those chat rooms and post on message boards. During that transition, I came up with the nickname alldatnmo. I wanted that for my message board name, eBay, email, and everything. I still have the eBay nick. I couldn't get that for everything, so I changed it to the longer alldatndensum. It's stuck. You can find me by that name most anywhere. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

| lol Alldat, typing in your user name + CHM is how I found the forum again, good thing you didn't change it on me!
Mine is pretty straightforward B for either my first name or one of the types of saxophone I play (baritone) and sax being the instrument. This was where I first started using the name but I've found similar to post of your guys that it's so much easier to keep the same name or a variation of it for wherever I post. |
