| Great to see you having such a positive effect on those kids (even with the technical difficulties). Keep up the great work _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| We've been having between 17-18 kids each week. We've been hitting some tough issues like drinking and pre-marital sex. With the "sex talk", I made some of the younger kids a little uncomfortable. So, this week, we're going to scale back and show short clips from "Because Of Winn Dixie", "Kitt Kittredge: American Girl", and "The Boy With The Stripped Pajamas" and discuss what it means to be a true friend. I've still got to put all of this together as I am pretty much ditching the Campus Life recommended curriculum this week. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

Perhaps it could have been made more age appropriate for them? Are you normally supposed to have a wide range of ages or 2 or 3 age groups of youth you deal with separately? I'd think it would be hard to have good discussions on a lot of topics if you're going from 13-18. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

| We have a range of kids from 7th to 12th grade. I think the kids were a little uncomfortable because I don't believe in tiptoeing around an issue. I'm going to be very upfront and quiet blunt.
I agree that any teen needs to have someone teaching them about godly sex and waiting until you are married to engage in it. I don't regret talking about this at all--not even with the younger ones. You'd be surprised at the level of pressure even 7th grade girls are under to have sex at their age. If the world is going to be pushing them to do it, then we need to give them the information they need to resist it.
I did promise the kids, though, that I would pull back and go a little lighter direction tonight. So, we're talking about friendship and what it means to BE a good friend. I have several goofy games planned. And, as I stated above, several clips from recent movies to help set the stage for my wrap up. It should be a good night. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

I hear the thing nowadays is "sexting", where kids will take pics of themselves and text them to members of the opposite sex. Bet most moms and dads don't see that coming. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

We talked about that last week, too. I made sure that the kids knew that if they did this, then don't be surprised when your "private" photo ends up public on everyone else's phone, put on someone's MySpace, or added to an illegal kiddie porn site for the world to see.
This week, we were down a little to 14. But, we had some strong storms moving through, and had a tornado watch until 8 PM. I think that kept a couple away. We also have a couple of kids who are getting into that zone of needing to really crack those schoolbooks in order to pull a grade up to pass. We might miss a few here and there for that until the end of the school term. But, I am glad to have had the 14!_________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

Actually, my director sent me a power point presentation she had done on this. Some of it seemed a little goofy, so I redid it and worded it in a much more "me" tone. I also went to the website www.thatsnotcool.com and used the download helper in Firefox to snatch a video about "sexting". I've hit them pretty hard with the sexual issues lately. But, to keep it from getting to be overbearing, I am alternating with lighter (but equally important) issues about things like friendship. I'm hoping to do something on relating to parents next week. I haven't decided yet. Too many other things to prepare for between now and then! Oh, and we set a new record last night. We had 19!!!_________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

| I think that's really awesome that you were able to stand up and talk about that. I know as a teen myself that I'm not that comfortable talking about it, but it totally does need to be said by someone and who better than a positive role model/influencer, PLUS some may have seemed and been uncomfortable but that doesn't mean they weren't affected for the better after they had time to reflect on it later right? keep up these updates are fantastic to see |

| We've had 19 for two weeks now. I was hoping that we'd break the 20 mark. Well, tonight we broke that barrier and had 22 for a new record!
We're still seeing a lot of regulars rotating in and out. Since this is not a church, I am not going to give them the typical church "guilt trip" if they miss here and there. I know many of the kids have softball & baseball this time of year. They have other things going on. So, we have several who come pretty much every time, and we're still picking up new faces. This is so exciting! _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |
