PostSubject: new year gear   Mon Jan 05, 2009 5:48 pm

So with the new year does anyone have some new musical gear on their wish list?

I know I have a couple things on my mind, one I'm actually checking out tomorrow and that's a new tenor saxophone. Although, the one I'm looking to buy is actually a used selmer.

I also want to look into getting a djembe drum. I have something small but it's more for decoration and doesn't have very good tone.

I don't what it is about the new year but it always makes me crave new gear lol.

Well... I have a couple things on my wish list, I really NEED some new heads for my drums the ones I have on now, I have had for almost two years, and they are single ply so they are in definite need of replacing.

I would also like to get some new symbols, the ones I have now just sound to cheesy, except for the zyljian (no idea how to spell that) that I have.

That about it for my wish list.

Ouch!!

Yes, time for some new heads, bro. Start with just one if you have to, but make replacing your heads a priority. Just remember that Buddy Rich used to replace his heads twice per night....

Good cymbals are a must. I do love Zildjians, so I would direct you to those usually. Just get as high up as you can afford, don't be afraid to spend some money on cymbals... Even ZBT's are better than the no name brands. The cheapies are not worth it....

Good cymbals are a must. I do love SABIAN, so I would direct you to those only. Remember that if it's not a SABIAN, it's not a cymbal. Just get as high up as you can afford, don't be afraid to spend some money on cymbals... Even B8's are better than the no name brands. The cheapies are not worth it....

Sorry TT, I had to fix the incorrect information so that the boy wasn't steered in the wrong direction. Razz

I bet he could afford it, or he had endorsements. The average musician, especially the non-employed teenage type, is doing well to duct-tape the old heads together when they rip.

All I am wanting in the way of gear is new strings on my 5 and 6 string bass. The 5 string is sounding pretty awful. Of course, it's been two years!

Why? If I sold my stuff just because I wasn't playing with someone, then I would not own any gear. I keep it because I enjoy it and because it is paid for!

Well I seriously doubt I will, but it has been almost 9 months since I have even played my electric geetar. I should probably break her out this weeking and take her for a drive.

I am seriously thinking of buying a better, more comfortable, heavier duty drum throne for my electric kit.
