The snow left the Pacific NW as we got hit by a wave of warm air from the south. Then came one of the "pinapple express" weather systems and we got lots and lots of rain. We are experiences avalanches in the mountains and flooding in residential areas and on some of our highways. Our little town was actually evacuated yesterday afternoon (we all spent the night at a friends house). Fortunately the river waters receeded this morning and we were able to come home to a relatively dry town (most of the homes were spared including our own).
When we moved here 10 years ago we were told it "never" floods here (20+ years was the last time our town had experienced any noteworthy flooding). We have now experienced three "100 year floods" in a short 14 months. Might be time to think about moving.
