| Day 77 | Quote: | For help and guidance from God for Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke as he concerns himself with the well-being of our nation’s business community Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance. —Proverbs 1:5
Awesome God, we come with words of praise on our lips and songs of gratitude in our hearts today, thanking You for the marvelous ways You gift Your people to serve You. You give generously without reservation to Your children, and we praise You for this today. So many skills and gifts You put in people, Lord! How You glorify Yourself in this. We praise You for it. This day we hold before You our nation’s Secretary of Commerce, Gary Locke, as he has stepped up to serve the needs of our country’s business community. We ask You to turn his heart to seek direction from You every day, Lord, and as he seeks, we pray that You will provide him with great wisdom and insight. Bless him and his family as they adjust to this new position for him, and may they be drawn to You together regularly. These things we ask in the beautiful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen. |

| Day 78 | Quote: | For God’s leading andhelp for Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner as he works to strengthen and stimulate America’s financial condition. But I have had God’s help to this very day, and so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. —Acts 26:22
Heavenly Father, we are thankful today that You are a God who helps us. We praise You that You do not leave us alone to face life’s difficulties and challenges. We know that You are with us, enabling us, strengthening us to do our very best, and we are confident that You will endow us with Your help as we honor You with our lives. When the Apostle Paul spoke before King Agrippa, he was able to do so with full confidence, because he knew the Lord had helped him – and would continue to do so – every day he served Him. We intercede now for our Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, asking You to work in his life causing him to call on You for help. May he desire and have Your guidance as he deals with our nation’s dire financial condition. Let Your will be done for our nation, Lord, in Christ’s name, amen. |

| Day 79 | Quote: | For courage and creativity for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan as he works to improve housing and address concerns like foreclosures and the lack of affordable housing Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. —Jeremiah 29:7
Glorious God, You reign over all things from Your glorious throne in Heaven, and we praise and exalt You today, for you have made us to do exactly that. As You rule in Heaven, all creatures are drawn to You to exalt You with joy and exuberance, and they praise You together as citizens of a heavenly city. May You enjoy the praises of your people today, O God! From earliest times, Lord, Your people have planned, created and inhabited cities, sometimes with Your blessing; other times without it. Yet we know that You love cities and those who live in them, and today, we ask that You will guide and help our nation’s Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Shaun Donovan as he works to help those who live in our nation’s cities. Bless him with great wisdom, we pray, and help him to do the very best for America as he addresses the great concerns housing foreclosures and other problems overseen by his department. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen. |

| Day 80 | Quote: | For humility and wisdom for members of the cabinet as they work together to serve President Obama and the highest needs of citizens Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life. —Proverbs 22:4
God, we desire Your blessings this day in our lives. Yet we also know that in order to receive, we must first come before You with reverent and humble hearts, looking to You for guidance, recognizing You for the omnipotent, sovereign Lord that You are. We do that now, O God, praising You for being our loving God who is always at work in our lives, drawing us ever closer to You. As we turn our focus to our nation’s cabinet members, we ask that You would help them, Lord, to have the humility and reverence necessary to foster unity and togetherness of purpose as they serve the Obama administration and our country. Let them place the needs of the people ahead of their own, and let them accomplish much today and every day for the betterment of our nation. In the name of Jesus we intercede, amen. |

| Day 82 | Quote: | For insight and innovation for Secretary of Energy Steven Chu as he works to steward America’s energy resources He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding.” —Daniel 9:22
Lord, we praise You today for Your persistent presence in our lives. Though we often don’t understand why, it is Your desire, O God, to give us knowledge and discernment to help us face our responsibilities and challenges. We are humbled that You choose to impart to us Your wisdom, and ask that You would enable us to hear and respond to Your voice and direction. Just as You used Your angel to speak to and assist Daniel as a result of his prayer to you, we ask that You would provide Your insight and ability to Steven Chu, our Secretary of Energy, and help him to make decisions that will ensure proper stewardship of our country’s energy resources. O marvelous and creative God, You show Your glory and majesty through the created order in so many ways! We praise and thank You for how You speak to us through the beauty of creation, for You reveal Yourself, Your glory and the precision with which You made all things. How great a blessing, how high the privilege of seeing Your beauty in the glory of the skies or in the intricacy of the tiniest blossom. You are beautiful and marvelous O God. Heavenly Father, You place incredible emphasis in Scripture on the acquisition of knowledge. You designed us, Lord, to desire and seek information. O Lord, may we want information that will help us to be wise – and then wiser still – rather than details that would pull us away from knowledge of You. Help us, O God, to be teachable and to aspire only to those things that You want for us. We also intercede today for the person You’ve positioned to work on behalf of our nation’s educational system. Gracious God, we thank You today that one of the most significant ways we can make You real in others’ lives is by serving them. Your Word even provides insight on the attitude we should have when we perform acts of service, for it calls us to think of our work for others as though we are doing it for You. This wonderful revelation gives us the right perspective in all we do. Thank you, Lord, for that. We intercede today for one of the servants you’ve appointed in our federal government, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis. | Day 88 | Quote: | For each member of the Obama administration to remain strong in his or her faith, seeking a vibrant relationship with God Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. —Psalm 51:10
Lord, we praise You for the cleansing and forgiveness you promise us when we come to You and confess. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. —Psalm 1:1-2
Almighty God, in Your wisdom, You blessed us with free will – the independence to choose right from wrong. Great God, even as people of prayer, it is easy to take for granted the incredible privilege You’ve given us to speak to You, and hear from You, in prayer. It is an opportunity for the profane to commune with the divine, and for You to provide insight, expertise and inspiration for us to rise above the limits of our humanity and be used of You to work in the lives of others – and in the life of our nation. Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. —Philippians 1:27
Lord Jesus, we worship You today. We glorify You for who You are in our lives – our loving God, good shepherd, source of living water, precious Savior. Thank You for providing everything we need to live a life pleasing and honoring to You, so that we may proclaim You to others.
We also ask, O God, that You would help President Obama and those serving our country with him to, as Paul exhorts, “conduct themselves” in a manner worthy of Your gospel…the good news that You came to save us from our sins and rescue us from condemnation. There are those in the administration who personally know You as Savior; others who do not.
