Any fans of Canada's Daniel Band? I just discovered that they now have a profile at MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/danielband1

I really dig some of their stuff (a little hit a miss for me). I have three of their albums somewhere around here.

Classic music...it's one of those bands I'd like to see re-record their releases.

I wouldn't mind some re-recording. I'd rather see a full blown reunion with a new CD, though.

They have a few songs that are total stinkers. But, for the most part, they rocked.

I always thought that "Run From The Darkness" is the groups most complete album. But I agree that Daniel Band did have their inconsistent moments.

I played the heck out of those first three albums. Run From The Darkness is every bit as classic to me as Snakes in the Playground or To Hell With The Devil, yet it seems like these guys never get a mention. It's a shame, because they were a great band.

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that no one played their music in some parts of the country. Here, I heard mention of the Daniel Band, but not even the Christian rock/metal radio show I used to listen to on Sunday afternoons played them. I never heard the guys until the Retroactive Records reissues happened. So, they never had the memories tied to their stuff like the Bride & Stryper discs had for me. I think the Daniel Band is underrated simply because they did not get the same level of media attention as some of our more favorite bands did.

I personally like Toni Rossi's solo albums a bit better I believe. But the Daniel Band still has some great music.

I especially liked the TRB release. Toni's "Love In The City" was hit and miss as far as songs went. There were a bit too many slow songs. With TRB, however, that was just some great 70's inspired hard rock! Even though the vocals are nowhere similar, that is probably the closest you are gonna get to someone sounding similar to KISS musically--in my opinion, anyway.

Makes sense.... When I was young, there was an older guy in our youth group who had EVERYTHING. He was continually turning all of us on to great Christian bands. I first heard On Rock back in 82 because he had bought the album. I owe my current status as a "metalhead" to that guy.

We had no radio. My sources of information for Christian music were:

1. That guy
2. Cornerstone magazine
3. Long's Christian Music catalogue, out of Florida. I bought tons of albums from them just because they were described as "metal" or "hard rock"

Oh, and I forgot a Christian book store in El Paso Texas. It was three hours away, but everytime we went to El Paso, I hit that bookstore.

I bought a lot of records there, including the first Bloodgood album. I had never heard of them before, but when I looked at it, I knew it had to be mine. Twisted Evil

I used to order from Long's Christian Music all the time. Always looked forwarded to receiving their catalog. Brings back some good memories. Was disappointed when they dropped the mail order business.

You guys make me envious. I have only been listening to Christian music since about 2003.
I do have a cool memory of a Christian dude (kind of like TT's "That Dude") who turned me on to White Heart back in the mid 80's. He was a neighbor of ours and I worked for him a few times when I was in Highschool, and we used to drive from job to job with him cranking White Heart's "Hotline" cassette in his van all day long.

It sounds very dated, but I still love that album.
