All the rhythm guitars are now finished!

All but one song have the bass tracks finished.

Drums are complete on 5 songs.

Vocals and leads are in various stages of disarray....er....I mean completion. I'm still hoping to get and use some outside help on the vocals and leads.

Don't give up the hope to get some outside help for the vocals and lead.
This progress report showed me you worked hard on "Hostile To The Gospel".
How many songs are there on "Hostile To The Gospel"?

What about a CD cover?

What kind of vocal help?

Will it help if I shout really loud into the phone and you can record that.

Someone to sing the lead vocals. That level of help. I've always thought that was one of my biggest hurdles--my own vocals. I can handle the background vox with great success.

There are 10 songs this time around. There are a couple of older songs that I wrote years ago that are being updated for this project. Since I never really did a proper release of them back in the early 90's, I felt like giving them a fresh start. Most of the songs, however, have been written in the past year or so. I am doing 1 old hymn, and I have co-writers on 4 songs (Tyler Davis, April March, Peter Billett (Fundy), and Nick Contor (TallT).

I am in desperate need of a cover for the disc. I'd like a drawing of someone chucking a flaming bottle of gasoline at a church's stained glass window. If not that, a photo from a news service of a church on fire. In one of the windows, I'd like to Photoshop in the cross from my "Show Me The Way" project. I think it would be cool.

I may change the name of the CD, though. I'm sure there will be tons of jokes made of the title. I'm thinking that the name "Prodigal" could work too. I don't know what the cover should look like with this. I might even go with "Walk On Water". A drawing of someone walking across the water would be cool.

Here is a list of the songs (not final order):

Feed My Sheep
Gloryland (remake of "Just Over In The Gloryland")
The 3rd Door
Prodigal
Hostile To The Gospel
Somebody Save Me
Crashing Down On You
Does Anybody Care?
No Other
Walk On Water

Surely we have some people here who could try to help. What kind of equipment would we need other than a decent mic? I have access to SM58s which are pretty much a standard for live music at least. I don't have much hardware processing ability though.

I assume you could provide the music track that we could sing along to. I'd guess I'd want a second track with your vox included so we'd know what the notes are and style you want, etc.

I don't know how you do the long distance recording thing in practice but it would be fun to try.

Won't be able to Photoshop in a cross, but here's a nice one (unfortunately the BBcode resizing tags don't work here for some reason).

There are several cool smaller pics but I think they may be too small even for a CD cover.

I do like that picture. Where did you find it? Do you know who ownes the rights to it?

As far as recording long range, that's where things get tricky. With me using a tabletop recorder, synching things to a computer is not easy. It can be done, but it will take a lot of practice. I may have to break down and learn because I'm also wanting to get some CMR buddies to supply lead guitar tracks. I can do some leads, but I am a limited player in that area. I like playing bass and rhythm guitar--it's what I do best.

See if any of these tickle your fancy. One is a smaller version of topshot's pic.

"Prodigal" is an excellent title for the new Cd.
At least, that's my very modest meaning.

I hope you can use one of these pics for the cover of the Cd.
I hope there's a lyric sheet added to the new CD too?

Right now, I'm more concerned with getting a good sound and getting the recording done before I think that far into the packaging. Seeing how I had inserts done for free by Fundy, I STILL lost money with the last CD. So, I don't know what I will do as far as packaging is concerned.
