Sometimes in my church people speak out a prophecy.
Words from God for the entire concregation.
Words from God to tell one or more members encouragement or that they have to surrender to God.

How does this goes in your church?
Are there people who have the gift of telling prophecies?
Or there never are prophecies in your church?

I don't think I have ever heard anyone "speak a prophecy" at my church (or even "speak in tongues" for that matter).

Most Baptists do not support those things. Our church does not. It's whisper quiet in our services.

In my church almost in every service are "words from God'.

We hear on a regular base people talking in tongues.

I wonder why this is not a regular thing in most churches.
Prophecies are from God and God likes to encourage His children via a prophecy.

My wife grew up in a church that seemed to have quite a bit of "speaking in tongues". That's another one I have never witnessed. Gotta confess I'm not even certain it is even a gift any more.

If someone did that in our United Methodist church, I bet some would fall over dead. We give the Baptists are run for being quiet.

Now in my other church, we let the Holy Spirit move however He desires so we'll have prophecy, tongues and interpretation, healing, etc.

All the gifts of the Spirit are most certainly present today! We Westerners just like to suppress the Spirit. Unfortunately, some have and likely still do misuse them.

Speaking in tongues is a gift given by the Holy Spirit.
