| Most of you remember my dad having a stroke back in Aug. last year. He had a 2nd major one in Dec. and passed away 4 days later. Last year was a tough year.
I thought things were settling down some. However, today my wife's dad was in the ER for several hours with a severe headache, super high blood pressure, vomiting, and having trouble balancing while walking. All of these are symptomatic signs of a stroke. So, he's in the ICU at University Medical Center in Lebanon. I'd feel better if he were someplace in Nashville like St. Thomas or Vanderbuilt, but for now he's in our local UMC (otherwise known as U Might Croak). My wife's dad is 69--a year older than my dad was. So, we're kinda scared with this since we've been through this before and not that long ago. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

| We got to meet with the doctor today. They think that my father-in-law has renal stenosis--which is a blockage of the kidneys similar to clogged arteries. They have his blood pressure regulated now and have him in a regular hospital room. They are planning on doing a test to see if they can put stints into his kidneys and further reduce his blood pressure this way. His kidney output is not great with him having been on an IV. So, they are pretty sure that it's his kidneys and not his heart or a stroke.
At least we somewhat know what we're up against, here. That's a major step in the right direction. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

| Glad it's not a stroke, alldat. And it is a good thing to know what the problem is so it can be tackled in the right way.
I'll pray for your father in law.

| They actually released my father-in-law from the hospital last night. He is at home. He will have a biopsy and some other scan in a few weeks on his kidneys. The Dr.s seem to agree that this was the cause of his high blood pressure. They've changed all his medications, and his night time meds make him very wobbly and not very coherent. We might have to get those readjusted. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |
