| Last year, the band Testify finally delivered their debut "24:27". I loved their album and was not looking forward to new music when I first heard they were changing singers. However, the band was able to get Lynn Louise Lowery, the bassist for the secular band Vixen, as their vocalist. Ok, you have a raspy dude singing and are gonna get some flowery chick singer. NOT GOOD. But, they started posting clips, and Lynn brings a different feel to the band that perked my curiosity. When I heard the first full song from the CD, I understood that the vocalist change might actually have been for the better as Lynn is a much more versatile singer than the original vocalist.
I've listened to the disc a few times now and am simply amazed. First of all, Lynn is not really high pitched or girly sounding at all. She reminds me of the singer from Arsenal at times. Because of the vocal range, you'd almost swear this was a dude singing in a mid to high range (as far as men go). Lynn is a great singer, seems to know her limitations, and sings to compliment the song. All in all, she brings the goods, and this will easily be a favorite for 2010.
If you want to hear clips or perhaps order the new "Pushing Back Darkness" CD, you can do it at CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/testifyband2 . _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

| I just got their first album just a few months ago and was very surprised to find how much I liked it. Looking forward to the new album with Lynn on vocals, sounds very cool from the samples. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Now I have read this review over "Pushing Back Darkness I will order this CD today.
My point of having problems with female fronted rock bands is that the voices of the ladies are so light for the rockin' music. Please don't explain this that I am against females in rockbands, but so often the female voices don't fit with the heavy rock sound of the band. Often the more heavier voices of men fit better to the sound of rock. I have a several femal fronted rock bands I really like. Fighter, Gretchen. Skillet. |

| I agree with yout review. I would have, however, bumped it up to at least 85% if it had 2-3 more songs. Even though a lot of people don't like them, this album needed a nice ballad to showcase Lynn's voice. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

I agree- a couple of more songs would have put it in the 85% range. Yes, Lynn's voice would translate well for a ballad- but I would love to hear Testify do a classic Rez Band cover sometime in the future (something like "Nervous World" or "Awaiting Your Reply"). I think her voice would work well in this area also. |
