PostSubject: eMusic Recommendations   Fri Aug 27, 2010 5:36 pm

I am still needing 27 more downloads to really get the benefit of my eMusic subscription. Any recommendations based on what you guys/girls know that I like?

I can remember you were searching some years ago to the rare CD of Armed - Get Armed.
Maybe you can find this CD on e-Music?

When you don't have enough dowmloads my wishlist is very long. Razz

I think the band was Armor. Razz I don't think that I'll find that there, but I will look.

I have the first Mehida CD. I also have their 2nd in MP3.

I did find some cool stuff, though. One of the coolest things I found was the new Project Damage Control album "Mechanism". Unlike their original plan of doing two EPs, this baby has 15 tracks. The project was released in July, but I don't see that they have CDs available. So, this is very cool to have found.

I don't know who it is, but it is not John Schlitt.

Yes the band was Armor.

I always was curious about "Mechanism".
I remember the band announced to release two EPs.
That's not an EP but a LP.

Maybe you can download some cool polka music. Razz
Or some other hard to find bands.
Or find some more stuff of the U.K band A.N.D.?

Is your Apostle stuff complete?

Just to get this recording was worth joining eMusic, but you don't have to. You can stream the whole project here: http://www.indieheaven.com/artist_main.php?id=20013

You can also purchase the MP3s there for $11.98. But, right now, you can get 45 free downloads through eMusic plus 35 per month for less than $16. If you'll send me your email address, I can "invite" you and I can get more free songs!

Ok, I have been digging through the e-music site and they have well over 200 tracks that are on my wants list. I did find two interesting bands that I never heard of before. One has a classic heavily blues influenced rock vibe with a female singer, and the other is a modern rock band.

CWC Power and Light Company at e-music

Hollow Drive at e-music

So is emusic like Rhapsody where you join and you download the music to your mp3 player and then when you cancel the tracks don't work? Or is it like itunes where you can download them to your computer and keep them since you paid for them already? Just curious

I asked alldat pretty much the exact same question in the "new cd's thread"

So with this plan do you keep the music indefinately (not just while you have the subscription service)?

The MP3s are yours to keep even when you stop your membership.

One thing you have to remember is that not many of the bigger labels put music here. This is mostly indie labels. You probably won't get Third Day or Skillet here. But, most of Retroactive's stuff is here.

While some of the band's "newest" releases are missing there are albums from Skillet, Third Day, Fireflight, Day of Fire etc. at e-music.

Thanks for those two links, Gary. I might check those two out next month.

I found a couple of others that I might get:

Soulfire

This band describes themselves as a mix between Led Zepplin and Third Day.

Consumed By Fire

This is just good modern rock!

Tried to figure out today how I have to download the CDs on eMusic I really like.
I thought I have downloaded the CDs I liked, but can't find them on my computer.
Maybe someone is able to help me a bit?

Did you set up a folder for this new music to go into? Where did you put that folder?

You can go to your Start Menu and use the search function there. Type in one of the band names of stuff you downloaded and see if it shows you where the songs are.

I put the music I downloaded on eMusic in my music folder.
Tried to download both Mehida CDs, but can't find both CDs in that folder.
I used the search of my computer, but all what I have found were no Mehida CDs.

Now I will create a new eMusic folder and see if that's working.
I only feel sorry for the Mehida stuff I have downloaded and can't find .

Try downloading them again once you know what folder you will use. eMusic allows you to redownload tracks once you have them at no additional charge.

I'll run through next month's downloads quick. I'm definitely getting:

Dark From Day One
Hollow Drive

And, I'll probably finish up with Soulfire unless something I find before then interests me more.
