I don't know how many of you used this site but I see where they got bought out by Amazon. They are closing up shop and turning into like an internet radio along the lines of Pandora. If you have an active account with them you should receive an email about it as well as $5 credit towards amazonmp3 store. Every once in awhile you could find some pretty good indie Christian Rock on there. I remember getting the Radial Angel accoustic album and Identity off there.

Sounds similar to what happened with Lala (only they went from a "trading site" to a "paid download" site).

Amie Street will become Amazon's subscription based streaming site. This will be the wave of the future. Pay so much a month and stream whatever you want to hear whenever you want to hear it. But, you won't own any of the music. There is already a site called Mog (or Moog--I forget the actual name), and iTunes is starting this as well. Streaming will be the way the record companies get control again as no one will buy physical product or downloads.

I don't mind buying MP3's, but I seriously doubt I'm going to pay a subsription fee for what essentially is "library privledges".

We as consumers have the right to accept or decline any new technologies. Remember the VHS vs. Beta wars? Blu-Ray vs. High-Def DVD? The market will decide what they want. Many youth would not mind paying a nominal fee to have any song anytime at their fingertips. Of course, many are also used to stealing their music via Limewire and think that music should always be free.

For me, I don't mind some MP3s. I understand that the market and types of product change. But, to just pay for playing songs, I don't think I want that. I'll definitely stop buying music when this change takes full effect.

Even if the industry moves to a subscription service, I expect there will still be lots of "indie" artists selling Cd's and MP3.

Wow bummer -I loved Amie Street. I will miss that site. I got my Digital version (had them on cassette) of The Rock Revival (70s Christian bands -3 volume set) from there - it was cheap !
