| Bet you never thought you'd hear a praise report from me (what with all the health probs) - In December my wife and I began reading yet another book on Dysautonomia. This MD seemed to have some different ideas. To prevent or lessen the symptoms of Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome, remove all sugar, caffeine and many carbs from your diet. I thought, yeah right ! I decided I would do whatever it took (being extremely desperate) we gave it a try -no more Red Bulls and Snicker bars and my wonderful wife began figuring out all the foods that break down to sugar and started making me great meals - (even though they're healthy) TWO weeks into this diet, coupled with some supplements and tapering off Prescription meds and I started feeling so much better !! That was about three weeks ago, since then most of my symptoms have been under control ( Panic attacks, anxiety, highs/lows, fogginess, nausea, depression, etc). My wife said it's like having her old husband back. My mom actually cried when I told her I've tapered completely off 3 of my meds and cut down 75% on the other 2. I've lost 21 pounds since Thanksgiving. (acc to my BMI I'm supposed to lose 30 more pounds) Only thing I still gotta deal with is the degen disc pain... but hey, I can handle pain, it's all the other junk that's made the last 8 years of my life so difficult. Anyways, I know some of you have thrown prayers up for me in the past, and I wanted to thank you. God has His timing in all things. |
