What's up? Nothing much. I still can't get the mix clear like I want and I find that terribly discouraging. I work on it until I can't stand it anymore and then quit for a few months. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.

He does mastering--not mixing. Besides, I don't know if I can afford his rates when I am done. I might, if I ever finish mixing, get Pastor Brad to do the mastering. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.

Actually, I don't know the difference between mix/master. What is it?

| Mixing is when you take the master tracks that you've recorded of each instrument and voice and adjust the volume, panning, and EQing until the project sounds full and finished. When you master the project, a lot of filters and compressors to really excite the frequencies that are there so that they sound huge. Mastering takes a studio recording and makes it sound complete instead of just a demo.
Mixing a CD is kinda like painting a portrait. It might be great. But, it needs the right frame, lighting, and the best place to hang it for display to really make it come alive. That is what mastering does for an audio recording. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

He is indeed, and I would be willing to bet he could probably but together a decent mix as well. But then Alldat would have to pay him for both. Farming out mixing and mastering for a self-recorded project can get expensive really fast......especially when you factor in the cost of cd reproduction, album art etc.

And also considering that there are no other members to the band with whom to split such said costs. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.

And what would you use to mix this with? _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.

A mixed MP3 would not help you. You will need each individual instrument as a WAV file to really mix. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.

First, I would have to take the files from my recorder (the hard drive is built into my standalone unit--I'm not recording by computer) and then send them. I can do WAV. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.

It's not always a matter of "feeling like it". I also have to have the time. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.

Spent a couple of hours mixing two songs. I got the sound really good in the headphones, but I haven't tried the mixes in the songs. One of the two songs I just couldn't get rid of this noisy crackle. I had to completely redo (AGAIN!) the rhythm guitars. I now have the crackle gone, and the bass/drums really cut through the mix. I hope that when I give these a listen in the truck that everything is good and mixing can continue. Just pray that God will give me ears to hear! _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution.
