| Reading Staybrites thread, I wondered how many people go to each of your churches. Does anyone go to a church that is absolutely huge? I'll start... My church has an average Sunday morning attendance of 80 Fundy _________________ My Christian Metal Website......... www.bbillett.freeserve.co.uk

| Our church started in February a new church on an other location. He old building we use for church is to small. That's why they searched for a new location. It's sad people you always met in church decided to go to the new location. Now we have two churches one in the centre of the city and an other location on a place where many new houses are build. Both locations grow. Yep, that's a blessing. |

| I answered this in the other thread, but we are seeing between 40-75 (and not hitting the 75 mark very often). The church we attended before we moved (about 8 years ago) had three Sunday morning services, and got between 250-350 each service. -- _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... | I used to go to Harvest in Riverside (Greg Laurie) which was huge, over 1000 to 1200 people each service and there were 3 services ! That was the biggest mega-church I went to. Then My wife and I went to Joshua Springs in our town (Yucca valley) for several years (around 150 first service and at least 500 2nd service).... We came to the realization that the bigger the church, the greater the anonimity (did I spell that right ?). More people, less relationships... less volunteer help too. We decided to go to the church I went to when I first got saved in back in '89. Its also the church Lisa and I were married in. The smaller the church, the more of a family it is, the more helpful and loving each member is, it seems. Today, I'm blessed to be an active part of this small body. I record the sermons and burn discs for people (which I love doing). I also designed and maintain the website (which is fun !) www.calvarychapel.com/landers One note about numbers though: They mean nothing to God. Out of the entire world, He only chose 8 to board the ark. Out of 2 entire cities, how many were dragged out by the 2 angels ? When Joshua had a huge army, God trimmed it down to I think 300 to fight thousands.... so, I've never been really fond of mega-churches aside from the hope that some will come to a personal relationship with the Almighty. |

I believe that was Gideon, not Joshua.
| Quote: | | One note about numbers though: They mean nothing to God. | Not in the same sense we do. We tend to measure the success of a church by how big the congregation is. But, God is more interested in the fact that His kingdom is increasing because a local church is obeying His word and vision for them. So, God isn't sitting back about to spank us all for not being mega-churches. He is, however, looking to see if we have used the "talents" He gave us, or have we buried it in the ground? If our churches are not bringing people to Christ, then we risk losing more people because we have not obeyed God. People will leave a church when they no longer see God moving or when they think that the church is spiritually dead._________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. |

That's more like what I was trying to say.. I certainly have nothing against numbers and big churches, rather, from the examples in Scripture, I think we would be heartbroken to find out what percentage of church-goers are not saved. |

I think this could very well be what has happened (is happening) with my church. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."
