| When I took the educational assistant job a little over a month ago with one of our local high schools, it was for a CIP class (Comprehensive Intervention Program) class. In other words, these are kids with a lot of emotional baggage that for whatever reason may easily become violent. To hold this job, I have to be certified in TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) which is a method for redirecting and controlling behaviors when these kids start acting out. I also have to be able to pass the restraint tests. In Tennessee, we still have the legal ability to use restraint when we feel that no other option for getting our students back under control is the last option.
I've been in this training all week. I have both the restraint tests and the written exam tomorrow. Both of these tests must be passed for state certification. Please pray that I will be able to retain the info and pass these tests. At this point, my self confidence is shot and I just don't know if I can do this. Have you passed the tests so you get the certificate you need? |

| I had to make an 80 on the written test to pass. I scored 92! The actual restraints we had to be certified in were either pass/fail with no number scoring. I passed all of those and now have a certificate/license by the state to use these in the proper settings.
