Back in 2005, I had a buddy give me a copy of Manic Drive's debut CD, Reason For Motion. Needless to say, I had no expectations, so I knew I could not really be disappointed in a CD by a band I had never heard of. Well, I spun the disc, and it ended up staying in heavy rotation around my house for months! They are a modern rock band, but they had a lot of things to say at the time that I needed to hear. Their message of Christ was there, maybe not as strong as I would like, but it was definitely there.

On Tues. Sept. 18, Manic Drive returns with their follow up CD Reset & Rewind. If you go to their website, www.manicdrive.com, you can watch a short video clip advertising the new CD and get a feel for the direction they are heading with the new material. Click on the media page, and you can go to their MySpace page that has two full new songs from Reset & Rewind. No ordering information is available there, but this should be in Christian bookstores very soon.

I have heard that name (Manic Drive) a few times before, but for some reason I kept associating it with Barren Cross' old singer Michael Drive, or Mike Lee (or whatever he is calling himself these days). And just sort of dismissed it off-hand.

So I watched the clip, and I don't know if I am just feeling receptive this morning or what but I kinda dig it. At least musically anyway, the singer seemed really generic though.

This was the first time I listened to Manic Drive.
I like the songs of "Reason For Motion".
Watched the movie too.
I need to watch and listen again.
What are your thoughts about "Reset & Rewind.

I think that the music sounds interesting enough to me to have ordered it. I'll let you know more about it after I hear the whole things.

It seems I'm a Manic fan.

I actually have the new one as my local christian bookstore had it out already. I must say, it is very good and if you were a fan of RFM then you shouldn't be dissapointed. This band has grown on me and they are really good. I'd give the CD a 9 out of 10 (just b/c it's hard to find the perfect cd)

Believe me I was shocked. I was bent on getting the new Beautiful Republic but once I saw that, had to get it. I thought it was early to be out.

You should still get This Beautiful Republic. Every song, if you really explore the lyrics, will bless your heart. And, while it is modern rock, these guys do it VERY well and even sound a tad different than everyone else.

I can't wait until my CD arrives of Manic Drive!

That means that This Beautiful Republic brought out an excellent CD with bold christian lyrics.
I am very interested.
But ...

I must say that I am truly enjoying the new Manic Drive. They continue to add their quirky mix of keys & eletronic noise to their modern rock sound while delivering a wonderfully refreshing glimpse of Jesus.

I won't say that it's BETTER than their debut, but it's good schtuff. Kinda reminds me of the rocked out parts of the latter DC Talk material.
