Now check out your new GPS.
I'm curious what you think about it.

What have you gotten from geocaching to log a cache on leap day?
I have gotten nothing.
Maybe it only was a gift for the geocachers in the USA?

We got a digital piece of art for logging a find on Leap Day. Look under the link Souvenirs when you go to your profile page. If you got one, it will be there.

I've never looked at Souvernirs.

Found one from 10-10-2010, one of Nordrhein Westfalen and one from TN State.
Nordrhein Westfalen is a state in Germany.
But how I ever can get a souvenir of TN State?

Didn't you log your virtual attendance at Alldatndensum's 1000th cache party? I guess that accounts for the TN one.

Yay! Five cookies for me! Razz

I only have three souvenirs: Leap Day, Ontario (total no-brainer) and Quebec (somewhat no-brainer, seeing that I'm only a few km from the province). Strangely enough I don't have one for France even though I logged 3 or 4 there.

They might not have the France souvenir up yet.

I have them for 5 states, the 10-10-10 event, and now the Leap Day one.

Cool, to have a souvenir from Tennessee.

Maybe it's for you cool to get a Dutch souvenir?

Maybe I should be more quiet instead of asking stupid questions.

Still one more for 1600 founds.

We tried to find a cache in Austria.
Some steps closer in the dicrection where we can find the cache put me to my ankles in the snow.
We cache was a DNF.

We've found one more and my husband found our first 4 star terrain cache, he had to remove a dead mouse first.
Silly mouse had found the cache, but never was able to log the cache. Very Happy

I broke through 1600. I grabbed two newer caches near sabidoo's apartment yesterday and am now at 1601.

Need help with geocaching abbreviations:
FTF - this one I know - first to find
TNLNSL
TFTC - just figured this out - thanks for the cache
STL

Bagged my first cache this morning in the middle of the woods in a state park. Since I don't own a GPS, used the trusty topo and compass, which makes it far more challenging. Took a bearing from a cabin 220 yards away and had to travel around a cove, across a footbridge and up the hill on the other side of the cove and into the woods. I passed within 25 feet. The hint helped a lot but it was still well hidden. Map and compass will be pretty hard if I can't find features from which to take bearings.

That's great Michael to find a cache without a GPS.
Have you logged the first cache?

DNF - Did Not Find.
What STL means I have no idea.
Looked at the geocache site in the list of words, but this one was not listed.

The abbreviation "STL" is just a modification of "SL". It means "Signed Log", or in this case, "Signed The Log". It's kind of a silly abbreviation as it is assumed that if you are logging it as found on the main site that you signed the log. For the most part, if you didn't sign the log, then you really didn't find it.
