I've often thought of our lives in this way, it's probably because quite a few preachers and evangelists have described it in a similar way. But it's like when we reach the end of time and we approach the judgment seat we stand in the dock waiting for our punishment.

The Judge (being God) says that we've done some awful things in our time, we've lied, cheated, stole, lusted, coveted and so many other things that we deserve the worst punishement. But then the Judge looks at us and smiles, and says "My Son has paid the price for you - you can go free. In fact, more than that, I've built you a home in paradise for you to live in for eternity."

How amazing is that!! How undeserving are we!

The Judge looked and said,
"All this sin, that you've made!
You're GUILTY, as charged!
BUT.... the price has been paid."

And there on the screen,
was an horrific scene.
He's beaten and bruised for my sin.
And hung on a tree,
when it should have been me,
HIS life for the sin that I'm in.

Our pastor used the example of a govenor pardoning a murderer from death row. Then the govenor adopts the murderer and brings him home to be a full fledged member of his family.
Amazing. If a state govenor ever did anything like this his family would probably have him commited.

I think when we do this sort of thing (i.e. put it in terms we can understand and appreciate) then it becomes even more amazing.
