I posted these a while back on CMR, but just thought I'd post 'em here for some more feedback. I didn't really know where else to put this thread. so please move it if it should be somewhere else.

these are a couple of tracks I recorded in Aug. No bass atm.

I have a couple more that I recorded in Aug but I have to rewrite/rerecord the vocals for them... as well as a few more that I'm in the process of writing/recording.

just "finished" another one.. though you must first pardon the fact that my timing is a little off on the stop/start.. and the lack of a guitar solo... I have, thus far, been unsuccessful at writing one for this song... if someone wants to give me some ideas or somethin.. more than welcome. And yes, I left the coke can opening for no reason.. maybe I should put it as the intro.. hmm...

another song I wrote years ago that I pulled out of the shelf and put to some drum loops. Don't think I'm gonna add vocals but I certainly would like to add some instrumentation (including violin) to the clean guitar parts...

here's another one I did back in August. All I did was take the old vocal track off and put a new one of some the "blessed" statements in Psalms (and in Matthew at end)

I like the riffs. I think these need some work to be marketable, though. Can you take the spoken word parts, rework them into something rhyming more like typical song lyrics, and sing them? You need something to really break up the different parts of the song.

I'm not a vocalist and that's really the hardest part for me... that's why I really need someone to work with me lol ... these are really just rough drafts for the song ideas ... I think they would need some more depth in some of the guitars, something done with the drums (though compared to the other loops I've used these are good but it's always more of a finding a few loops I like and play the rhythm guitar part over it rather than something written together with the riff), as well as some bass added ... I would love someone to work with to flush out not only the rough ideas/songs I have but all these ideas and such I feel are in my head that I just don't know how to get out.

all these songs were recorded with Audacity and I have them all saved as Audacity files so all the tracks are removable/able to be edited, etc.

I'm not really interested in marketing anything. I just want to use the gifts that God has given me to glorify Him and to speak the messages that He gives me to speak. Anything I do will always be free download, at least from this perspective because I don't feel that God wants me in the music business in a full time sense... you know what I mean? Perhaps God has something in the future, but at the present time I just want to SERVE Him somehow with the gifts and talents He's given me (even though my talents are not up on par with a lot of other people's)... and I've always been interested in writing/recording music and I believe that's part of God's plan for me.. though I really don't know how/when...

Music sounds good to me. As Alldat said, they would benefit from them being sung as to being spoken. But they're still good anyway.

Regardless of whether you want to sell your music or give it away, marketing is simply making a product (in this case a song) and getting someone to listen. To honor God, you want to make the best possible song you can so that people will want to hear it whether they pay to hear it or get it for free. That's all I meant by marketing.

I have sold CDs and have given away many more. I usually break even on printing costs--that's it. I just want this next project to be good enough that I COULD charge and make a profit regardless of whether the project sold a copy or not. I think that you would want to do the same.

I'm just thinking that if you get talking with bassdude, you could have bass and vocals. As to drummers, we have Sabidoo and Thomas, as far as I know.

I think doing anything making music would be fun.

I dig what I'm hearing. It would be great to hear you paired up with a decent singer, and some other band members.

I can sing a some Jon, if you wanted me to try a track in the future. I'm no Michael Sweet or Guy Ritter, but I'm okay.

didn't we have this discussion last week on the CMR?

I started tracking bass on some of these in May, but the end of school got me really busy and now I'm going to start again.

maybe I'll look into actually writing lyrics for the ones that I just "plopped" some scriptures down on because I had to scrap the old lyrics.

I like the music.
It would be great when someone could do the vocals for you.
then you don't have to sing and can concentrate more on the music.

Seriously though, you never know until you try...
With a decent effort put forth, and with the right recording capabilities...
I mean hey, when I was young, I never thought I was a good singer at all...
Now... well, I think a few people somewhere out there kinda like what I do...

So like I said, you never know 'til you give it a good try!

I'd be WILLING, but...
a) I'm SO busy at the moment... need things to slow down...
b) My studio is not set up for vocals at the moment... at least, not LOUD vocals!

I'm not a great vocalist, but I can do a decent thrash sound. My recording equipment is pretty ghetto, but I'd take a shot at it if you want.
