PostSubject: Mom's situation.   Fri Jul 27, 2012 8:26 am

God has given us a wonderful mom.
Since 10 years she has alzheimer.
Since 3 years they care for mom in a nursery home.
The alzheimer has erased many things of my mom and we are saying good bye to too many good things of her.

In February of this year mom started to have problems with walking and she has forgotten how to sit and stand up.
Since that day she's using a wheelchair.
In the last months we have seen mom is not reacting much on her kids and her environment anymore.
She's in a world where we can't come.
She's having problems with eating and drinking.
We her kids pray to God to be meryfull and bring her home.
Maybe this sounds so weird to you all.

When God brings mom home the alzheimer will be over.
The alzheimer is not able anymore to erase mom of her dignity.
I will miss the mom she was for us.
I'm relieved when her suffering will be over.

I can't imagine having to watch a parent deteriorate like that. It's got to be heart-wrenching.

However, I do understand not wanting your mom to suffer. When my dad had his two strokes, I prayed for God to ease his suffering. With the first one, God did by allowing daddy to recover and have a few more good months. With the 2nd stroke, however, God took my dad home. It was hard to watch him just lay there non-responsive. Even harder was having to remove him from life support and just let him go. At least we knew that daddy didn't want to be kept alive just by those machines.

So, my heart goes out to you, my friend, as do my prayers.

Very sorry to see you have to go through this sister. It has be a long difficult time for you to watch your mother's mind (and now her body) slip away. I complete understand you hoping that God will take her home soon. You are a good daughter.

Something similar happened to my grandmother; for almost as long as I lived (about 10 years) she was bound to a wheelchair, mute, and unable to take care of herself. My mother was her main caretaker for a few years until Grandma passed on and got to meet the God she's always followed.

My grandpa went to be with the Lord a few months ago, and he's back with his wife (my grandma) now. They were apart for four years because Grandma died before Grandpa.

When Grandma died, I prayed that my grandpa's taking would be quick and painless for him, and that's basically what happened. So in that respect, I'm kind of thankful.

Sorry to hear what you're going through, like DBF I had a granmother who went through the same sort of problem for quite a number of years. It's always difficult when they don't remember who you are.

Praying for you all.

Mom's situation is breaking my heart.
She has a pressure ulcer* on her back.
She's lying in most most of the time and she's asleep a lot.
Ther extreme heath of last week is not good for her.
Today we have visited her ans she was sleeping.
We let her sleep.

* Hope that's the correct word for this.

Oh that is terrible. My wife worked in a hospital and several nursing facilities, and may of the patients would get ulcers from sitting (or laying) in one position for too long.

The doctor from the nursery home where my mom lives called my sister to tell her that mom is not eating and drinking anymore since some days.
It's harder for her to eat and drink.
The ulcer is causing her much pain.
This situation makes me very concerned about mom.

She's skinny, quiet and is not reacting on our presence.
Yesterday I've visited her and it made me so sad to see her in this situation.
she's getting morphine for the pain the ulcer is causing her.

Rembemer it's a big painting full of all kinds of things.
The alzheimer has erased all part of the painting and the painting is empty now.

Wish we could be there to give you a hug and pray with you in person. Please know that we here at CHM are thinking about you and praying for you and your family.

Keep the faith. Continue to seek God in prayer and be there for your siblings, even though you have pain from this. I've found that taking the focus off of your own pain by helping others is the best way to deal with difficult times like this.

We're thinking about you Vonnie and if there's anything you need, post or PM me or Staybrite and we'll drop what we're doing to pray for you. (I can speak for Gary cuz I know he would do that Very Happy )

The latest update about my mom is that she refuses to eat.
She's holding her lips closed.
She's drinking a little bit.
Her situation is continuing to deteriorate.

Thank you, I need the strength to let mom go.
All your messages are the sunbeams in those hard days.

That would give me so much strength to pray with me in person.

Yvonne emailed me and said that her mom's situation is critical. Just the wording makes me believe that her mom is dying. Please keep them in prayer as it is tough to lose a parent. Vonnie is our prayer warrior and lifts all of us up from time to time. It is time we bless her and her family right now with the same honor she gives to us.

I've been praying, but I'll step it up.

Maybe a group of us should fast lunch today and spend that time in prayer for Yvonne and her family? Anyone want to join me?

We watch over our mother as long as necessary.
It's hard to see her suffer on this way.

We feel the peace of God inside us.
I feel so strengthened by all our prayers.
Thank you so much.

Her situation is deteriorating more and more.
She's dying.
We are with her.
I feel the power of your prayers.
Yesterday has been a very ... very long day.
It gives me the strength I need.
I thank you for the prayers and the strength that I need in the last days of my Mom.
We know God will mom safely home.
