Prayer time, guys!

My wife's brother Bobby had a massive heart attack yesterday and had to be life-flighted to Vanderbuilt hospital in Nashville. He was without oxygen for over 20 minutes as he died on the spot and had to be revived. Right now, he is on a ventilator and is unresponsive to any stimuli. The doctor spoke with us last night and told us that he will be coordinating with the neurologist for the next couple of days. That usually means that they will be checking for brain damage and activity. If there is no brain activity, then they will push Bobby's wife to make the decision to remove all of the machines. The doctor did prepare us for a negative outcome.

This is really hard for this family right now. If you all remember, Holly's oldest sister died almost the same way--three years ago in October. So, not only is this scary enough for them, it is bringing back a lot of old memories, too.

To top it all off, Bobby and his wife have NO health insurance. So, Vanderbuilt is only going to do what they can to stabilize him. They are not really going to do a lot to save his life. Also, Bobby's wife doesn't have a job, knows nothing about what bills they owe or how to pay them, and can't even drive a car. She also has no way to pay for the funeral if something happens.

So, if you all can pray for the Dickens/Hardin/Jernigan family--especially Bobby Jernigan--I would most appreciate it. If you all don't see me around much for the next few days, it will be because I am with the family & trying to work, too.

What a sad situation for Holly and her family.
I remember Holly's oldest sister died three years ago.

The situation of Bobby is in my prayers as long there's a need for.

I hope the situation of Bobby will improve. you know in God all things are possible.

Holly's mom and Bobby's wife met with the doctors tonight. They are going to do a brain scan either late tonight or early tomorrow morning. If it comes back negatively, then the doctors said they would then make the recommendation to shut off all life support. The family will then have to figure out how to pay for funeral expenses.

Let me be the first one to offer whatever financial help I can.

They did a brain scan yesterday, and it was negative. The doctors asked the family to remove the ventilator, which we did. Unfortunately, a body can linger for hours this way. Holly has just called to tell me that Bobby is fading fast now and it won't be long now. I'm going to catch me a shower, and I'm heading back to Nashville.

I'll stop in and give details for funeral arrangements.

I just got another phone call. Bobby has passed away.

Sorry to hear that news, Chris. Your family must be in complete shock at the moment. It's a bit difficult to know what to say other than I will pray (as many of the guys in this forum will) for you and especially your wife and her mother at this time of sorrow.

We don't have the words to surround the family after this big lose.
God can give the family the comfort they need.
His presence can give the peace they need after the sudden tragic death of Bobby.

I pray that the Lord will be with you all and bring comfort to you in your time of loss.

The family will have visitation at the funeral home here in Watertown from 1-9 PM tomorrow, and from 10-2 on Saturday. The funeral services will be at 2 PM. I'll be doing the services.
