Stryper news.

The brand new Stryper re-record album entitled "Second Coming" scheduled for release on 3/22/13!
The re recorded songs will come from the first three albums and include two new songs.

That means only two new songs.

Supposedly it is going to be released March/April on Frontiers Records. They are an Italian label that has released several recent albums from reformed 80's metal/rock bands (ie. Warrant, Night Ranger, Loverboy, Asia etc.)

2 new songs? What a pain! I'm like alldat and long for bands to release new albums with new tracks, not old albums with a couple of new songs.

I guess I may buy the album, but I'm now more likely to buy just the two as downloads. I'll just have to wait longer for a complete new album.

I probably won't buy it but only cause I can't afford to buy many cd's now. It'll definately go in the wish list though.

I feel the same about this new Stryper release as Chris and Fundy.
The songs on the first 3 CDs I already have listened over and over again.
To buy this new CD only for the two new songs is not going to happen.
I think I can buy the donwloads from the new songs somewhere online.

I read an interview recently and Michael says the versions of these old songs on the new album will be alot heavier than the originals. The word he used was "bone-crushingly heavy".

I thought Michael was going to go the independent route in regards to the re-recording because he wanted to have the rights to the songs. He mentioned something on fb about possibly doing a kickstarter production. He said that Hollywood Records wanted way too much for the rights to the songs...Cant even afford your own songs...something wrong about that...

I remember something along those lines as well. But their deal with Frontiers Records may just be for distribution, and may not include song rights/royalties.

I don't like cover albums....Got the Covering and loved it. Not a huge fan or re-records...gonna end up getting this as well. The other good news is that it sounds like the are starting to get the all new album together beginning March 2. It's Stryper, so I know both will be really good.
