Anyone heard of Prophet ?

I had a chance to pick up this self titled album by a band called Prophet from 1985... but I'm hesitating as I don't know anything about them and can't find anything on them.
Anyone know about them ? Are they Christian ?

I think I remember hearing of this band back in the 80's, so I would be a bit surprised if they are a Christian band. Based on the song titles they certainly don't appear to fit the typical Christian "evangelical" song title kind of thing you would expect from a Stryper or Bloodgood back in the mid 80's. But you never know. I would definitely like to hear them though...looks like just the kind of music I would have loved in 1985.

I do remember this local band from the 80's called Perennial who had this very anti-satanic song called "Devil's Preacher". That song made me think they were a Christian band, but they had another one that seemed to celebrate getting waysted...so that kind of squelched that idea of them being a devout Christian band.

someone's got this album on ebay and he lists it as "Christian Metal" - but I don't trust these people. These are the same people who thought George Harrison was a Christian cuz he sang My Sweet Lord

Never mind the "Hare Krishna" mantra he repeats about 1000 times in that song.

According to this, they weren't a Christian band. I know wikipedia isn't always the most reliable but there's no mention of the band having any type of faith...

Good to know, thanks man.... I was this close to buying this rare "gem" off ebay, until I questioned whether the ebayer was correct in calling them Christian.

If it's the Prophet I am thinking of then no they aren't Christian. I picked up a cd by them called Cycle of The Moon or something like that for $2. After I got it however I realized that singer Russell Arcada sang on the Liberty N Justice song "State of Grace" from Soundtrack of a Soul. The album I have is clean and nothing wrong lyrically with it
