Metal Genre Breakdown Chart

Stumbled on this one... what's your take on this ?

 Oh no no, I didn't do this... Heck I can't tell the difference between most metal genres. That's why I prefaced it with "stumbled on this one..."

I just wanted to get some feedback if people think it's pretty accurate or not.

Wow Guilty/Forgiven that must be a lot of work to create this.
Now, tell me what's your favorite.

That would be cool too, but no, I don't have the time. I'm down to 5 issues of the Heaven's Metal magazine project and, like in a marathon race, I'm sprinting - every free moment I have, I'm working on that project.

But whoever made the chart did a pretty good job, even though the bands are secular. It kind of puts the genres in perspective for me. I've always been a "chart kind of guy".

I've seen this before.  It's almost dizzying trying to follow the lines from one genre to the next.  Although they left off stuff like Tough Guy Hardcore & Doomcore.

Right. And they have early punk, but not new-school punk.

And I really don't see D.R.I., S.O.D. and Suicidal Tendencies to be metalcore.  I always thought they were cross-over bands.

As punkers in High School (I hung with real punkers, not posers and definitely not this new polished pop punk crud), the bands you mentioned were considered PUNK ROCK.  We had 2 buddies who had connections to the underground punk scene in Hollywood back in the mid-80s (they connections to other things in Hollywood too, but we won't go there), they used to hook us all up with demo tapes, records and 45s from the latest punk bands and that's where I first heard those bands and many more- before they were even known yet.

So I always considered them classic punk with some thrash metal. Though SOD had a lot of thrash elements, Milano's vox were clearly punk -
I totally agree, there's nothing metalcore about them.

I think if whoever did this chart, were to do it right, it would be much larger.

Or he would copy it from Sam Dunn's Metal Evolution
