Subject: Suggest more stuff!!! Tue Oct 29, 2013 12:29 pm

Looking for some other solid releases (in the next month or so at least) with solid lyrics. You know pretty much what I like. Bonus points for stuff my sons will like.

I know I'm getting Stryper, PK Mitchell, Sacred Warrior and Theocracy (eventually since I own the original). Still need Inner Siege from a while back, too.

I might get the Bloodgood if I can hear better samples (and would prefer they open up distribution).

Not interested in Guardian or Bride (unless Dale has changed his tune). What else is there? Andy doesn't show rock stuff on his release date list so what good non-metal have I missed this year?

I did find it cheaper ($10) other places. Not sure what's up with Amazon. Trying to find better clips as Amazon's seem to be low quality.

Do you like any of the more extreme metal genres? How about doom (traditional, epic, doom/death, etc.)? You're specifically looking for bands with Christian "solid lyrics" or secular too?

For traditional/epic doom, I suggest:

Faith - Decades Of Despair
In-Graved - In-Graved
Nomad Son - The Darkening
Under The Sun - Under The Sun (this didn't come out in 2013 like the others, but it flew under the radar for most and is very good!)

No extreme anymore. Theocracy is about as hard as I prefer now and is one of my top 3. Doom is fine (Place of Skulls is another fave). Lyrics must be obviously Christian and generally positive in nature. Don't necessarily have to sing about Jesus in every song, but their faith should show through.

Gotcha. Well since you're a fan of Place Of Skulls (great band!!!), definitely check out In-Graved. It's Victor's new project, basically the continuation of Place Of Skulls though it's got a bit more of a bluesy-rock feel and less metal (though same great tune of guitars Victor is known for). Also, he and David Benson are teaming up for an album though I'm not the biggest Benson fan so I'm gonna skip it. (Sorry Jeff!)

Faith and Nomad Son aren't extreme metal, but they're pretty dang heavy and may not be your style. Under The Sun however... you will probably like. Lyrics are very blatantly Christian too.

But just in case, you may want to give these good gentlemen a try too:

That Joshua - Resurrection would be a great add to the collection, Topshot. Also, while not as lyrically strong as I would like, the new Scott Stapp album is great. I am hearing several songs about dealing with his past, changing his ways, etc. Also, the song "Jesus Is A Rockstar" is a pretty bold statement about Scott's faith!

But I usually like what most other long-timers here do - that's why we've all gotten along so well over the years. Smile

I will say that it would be a major bonus to be melodic and have good hooks so it's easy to sing along with (that's what my boys like). Beyond the Rage is a good example.

And that is just what I bought that was released in 2012/2013...

I rebuilt my collection in 2012 so I went totally nuts buying cds...over 300 cds in the last 2 years.

Obviously, I couldn't sustain that pace and have had to back off considerably.

Agreed, I was going to recommend a few more bands (and others have already mentioned them), but I suspected they probably wouldn't have lived up to your lyrical standards.

Wow... I only have about 70 cd's total. If something doesn't hold my interest very well I get rid of it.

A band I really like is Bone Prophet Topshot.
It's not a release from this year or last year, but I like their songs.
