Yes it is Nitro, the lead singer Jim Gilette looks nearly as ridiculous (but almost unrecognizable) today.

The guitar player was Michael Angelo Batali (or Batao, or something), right? He plays two of the wings at once - pretty well actually...

I don't think it's embarrassing at all.  That's who we were back then and has contributed to who we are today.  I had big hair back then too.  It was part of my rebellion; against my parents, my teachers, organized religion and society in general, who were trying to make us into something that we didn't want to be, a rebellion against those who wanted to tell us that we couldn't have long hair, pierce our ears, wear black, or wear a little make-up from time to time.  It was outrageous and it stood out and made a statement.  And it was fun.  And I don't think that I'm alone in saying that if I had it to do all over again I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm with yuh... only thing I'd change is my hair... woulda grown it longer. Course I wasn't only a metal-head, I was a punker too... so the hair wasn't my main focus. I had the leather jacket with all the bands and artwork all over it along with my jeans and punker boots.
It's funny to think - when I was a teen in the 80s, I came home from school with marker and ball point pen tattoos on my arms and my Mom was like "wash that off!" - today's teens come home from school with REAL tats. Us parents today can't say "go wash that off" anymore...
