PostSubject: Back Surgery Time.   Thu Mar 06, 2014 12:36 am

Welp kiddies, it's that time again !  Been almost 10 years since my first back surgery in 2005. Last one was in 2007 with the complete laminectomy and total fusion with 4 screws and 2 rods.

Next week (Tues the 11th) they will knock me out, slice open the back in pretty much the exact same spot and add another "rung" to the ladder steps of the existing hardware.

Currently this is where I'm at:

(actual side view of mine)

Back view (cannot find my own xray of the back view, but this is what it looks like)

This is what they will do on Tuesday:

So, needless to say, prayer is appreciated. Hope to get through this without incident. Last surgery was rough - had a couple mishaps. Thanks a lot for your prayers.

You've got praye cover, my cybornetic brother!  Nothing like having a little metal in us for support, now is there?  What's even better is having a God that will take care of us while the doctors turn us slowly into the Borg.  Jesus is the great physician, and I am believing He wants to stop the pain and allow you to get relief!

"Thank you" just doesn't show enough of my heart feeling towards you guys - my CHM family. I so appreciate all of your prayers as they mean everything to me.

The worse "Mishap" at my last surgery was on the first night. I was awakened at 2 AM out of a deep sleep - only to discover my whole hospital bed was wet. I freaked and turned the light on and realized that I must have moved in my sleep and pulled my needle out and an artery was leaking for I don't know how long, but the entire bed and my backside was soaked in blood. Had God not woke me up, I don't know what would have happened. (the nurses were freaked but were trying to stay cool, I could see it in their faces though - haha)

Praying for you, the Dr's and your family. For no mishaps and that you don't become totally assimilated.

Praying for you, your family, your doctors and nurses.  And just remember, no matter how much pain you're in, don't trade any Seventh Angel vinyl for a couple of painkillers.  Just say No.

Who knew this thread would be SO MUCH FUN !?!! I'm laughing like a hyena as I read thru the posts... you guys crack me up !

Kerrick: I am completely at peace with everything.
First 2 surgeries I was very nervous/anxious on the inside (but I never show it on the outside)... this one feels like just another inevitable step in repairing this back of mine. I have no fear or worries. That's not to say I'd like to
1. Stay alive... and
2. Be able to walk after this one. Thus my petitions to God for a good outcome and His will to reign in my life.

YESSSSS !!!!! Assimilation is welcomed to my body and I will also have my headphones at the hospital cranking Deliverance's Assimilation at 11 !!!

HYPOTHETICAL SCENE: Jim after surgery laying in hospital bed with ear buds listening to METAL...
Nurse comes in mistaking my room for an old man in the next room over: "Mr Willis, it's time for your enema"
Jim, with headphones blaring Deliverance into his skull, looks up just as the nurse is approaching him with a bag.... the scream would be heard across several floors.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Laughing

LOL, just FYI, if I was faced with a decision between keeping a 7th Angel vinyl and writhing in agony, or trading any vinyls for pain meds....

Scene: Jim laying on floor in fetal position groaning in pain mumbling to himself: "at least I still have my Seventh Angel"

 Laughing

Reality: I've already told my wife that this pain is so incredible, I'd give my entire music collection away to trade it for being pain free.... and I MEANT it ! (good thing that scenario couldn't be played out in real life -haha)

For those that have Jim (Guilty/Forgiven) as a facebook friend you will notice that he posted a post-op picture of himself (man he's just not very handsome....his wife must love him for other reasons). All kidding aside he looks pretty darn good for someone who had his spine hacked into just yesterday. Keep him in your prayers folks.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. God heard your prayers and answered with mercy and fast healing !
Everyone working with the Surgeon as well as the Surgeon himself did an absolutely incredible job.

I should be back to skydiving soon ! (just kidding of course) Actually since we spent so much out of pocket on this, our deductible will be met and I will be able to address my neck before the year's end. The cervical herniation will have to be addressed asap. Yay me !
