The “We Will Stand” event is billed as “The Greatest Night in the History of Contemporary Christian Music” and will be broadcast online live through video stream Wednesday, January 21, starting at 6pm CST at live.ccmunited.com.  It will also be recorded and released as a DVD and companion CD (preorder available now).

Other then Petra i'm not interested in any of the named artists but good for them.

^ ditto, but Petra is why I posted it here. I'll have it streaming, but I won't be paying much attention to it.

I ended up watching the whole thing, and it was awesome. Sure, some of the older folks, like Russ Taff, really couldn't sing very well anymore, but it was still an excellent gather of artists. Petra was there, of course, during the five minute lip-service paid to Christian rock -- while Petra sang "I am on the Rock" the names and pictures of several rock groups, old and new, were displayed on the screen, including Deliverance, Demon Hunter, Holy Soldier, Barnabas, Resurrection Band, Whiteheart, White Cross, Stryper, and even Stryken.  Newsboys sang a couple of songs as well.

A lot of people don't like CCM, either the style or the people, but one thing is for sure ... they never say, "We're not a Christian band, we're just Christians in a band." Sure there not perfect, but they are people the open state, "We are Christians and we sing Christian music ... songs for and about Christ."

The are starting a repeat stream in about five minutes; perhaps the'll keep doing it.  The URL is http://live.ccmunited.com/ if anyone is interested in checking it out.

I thought you said enough softer stuff?

Yeah, pffft.  I'm not into the "sounds like a diesel in low gear struggling up a hill" metal (death, black, and the like).  And while I don't usually listen to core stuff either (melodic, power, and progressive metal are more my forte), I do like DH and Disciple.

Actually, black metal usually sounds like a cat getting it's tail caught under a rocking chair.  COMPLETELY different from death metal.
