That first post reminds me of some toys my younger bro used to have. I was more into models back then. I had a General Lee, 60's era Corvette, 70's Trans Am, some planes, USS Enterprise, Millennium Falcon, even a few ships.

One of my favorites was a classic Duesenberg.

We had our fair share of video gamers too thanks to Coleco Vision. We had Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Miner 20409er, Mouse Trap, and a few others I can't remember the names to.

They still sell Lincoln Logs.  I remember having a new set that my foster kids loved to play with a few years back.

I had the Electronic Football and Baseball games. I LOVED them. About 5 years ago my wife bought me the football game she found it in a Big Lots or something. I told her I had it when I was a kid. Brought it to work and everyone remembered it. I also had the basketball game. Also had Evel Knievel.

And in the later years of the "big" Joes, I had all of these... By this time Star Wars figures had taken over and GI Joe was all but dead. I had some of the older action figures that my older brothers gave me but these were the ones that were mine.

Erector sets, tinker toys, and legos before they came in specialized kits.

And these guys... the original GI Joes (not the 4" "mini Joes")

It started with this:

And grew and grew and grew until I had an 11 foot straightaway as the main part of the track.

Lego, Hot Wheels, Marbleworks, Tinkertoys. Those are the ones that spring to mind first. Some of me misses them, but while they're fun, they don't accomplish all that much…

Yeah, but you can't just buy a big tub of them like you used to.  Now you have to buy specific sets.

Like Legos. Those used to come in a big tub like lincoln logs and tinker toys, with all the different sized blocks. Now they make and sell sets with specialized pieces designed to form a specific item, usually something from a movie. No imagination needed, just follow the instructions.  Mad

Dude, you have totally missed the point with these toys .... and at the same time vocalized the problem with today's youth. It is not what the toy can accomplish, it is what the child can accomplish with the toy! As a boy I spent hours playing in the dirt at the base of a tree in our back yard, designing whole cities with my hot wheels cars. Or building crazy things with my legos or tinker toys.

The reason our kids are lazy today is because they are not taught how to use their imagination, how to think on their own. Instead they are given devices that do things for them, or that have instructions telling them what to make.

Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

I also remember these and my brother was good at them! I guess they were eventually outlawed because they started killing people.

I had Tinker Toys and Legos and loved them!

I also had the Evil Knievel set and that Six Million Dollar Man figure.  Those were good times!

I had a ton of Hot Wheels cars and spent hours pushing them around on different places that I had whole towns set up for.

I also had this:

I played with my dolls.
My uncle brought me a beautiful doll from Italy.
She was amazing, she could walk and she said "mama".
In the time I was a girl was that very special.

It's rather ironic that which we outgrow brings a smile to our face as we get old.

The Dukes stuff had me remember our family game night. One of my favorite games was The Dukes Card Game

And TWO I SAVED from my Childhood and STILL PLAY TODAY with my own kids:

It is fun watching my kids enjoy these games as much as I did as a kid.
