PostSubject: Storage units for CD's   Thu Jun 25, 2015 3:14 pm

Does anyone use anything to store their cd's other than a shelf?

The reason I ask is because I got a new bookshelf and the top shelf is big enough for my cd's and music DVD's if I can stack them on top of each other (2 high). But I don't want to do that because it seems like a pain to get one on the bottom.

So I found these:

The big guy holds 60 cd's in regular cases, the little guy holds 30. The silver things on front are big snaps that hold the case together (the brand is Snap N Store, clever right?). The small one is about $8 at Wal Mart and the big one is like $11.

Does anyone else use anything like this?

I tried those before and found them very flimsy. After a period of time, the button latches start unpopping. They also don't support a lot of weight.

I switched to Really Useful Boxes.

Virtually indestructible. I have stacked 7 high..not a flinch. They used to have an advertisement showing them being used to hold up a car. They also hold a lot more. And they have handles. The 17l is a perfect size for dvds or cds

They also have different sizes for different media and different quanities

They also make a ton of different sizes for other uses

Those look cool!  Too bad to hear they're not well made.  The Really Useful Boxes look good though.

Right now all my CDs are in cardboard boxes and plastic bags at my parents' house since my place is too tiny to store them.  Sad  Once I get a bigger place, I will get a proper shelf to keep them organized.  A little part of me dies every day they remain disorganized in those boxes though...  Mad

Yeah I liked the look of the Snap N Stores... Maybe I'll buy one of the Really Usefuls and see what I think.

Anyone else? Bueller?

Mine are all just stacked on a shelf.

My main CD shelves (Music only) are in my Media Room:

I used to store my software in these cool contraptions for years (I've only recently transferred them back to my old skool 200 CD case binder):

My DVD collection is nothing exciting, just mini-crates:
