Bro ! I'm telling you, seriously, this is huge !  I tried tons of diets over the years that I didn't really stick to, and many that were gross tasting health sawdust crap. When I agreed to do this diet exactly 6 years ago, I was doubtful, hesitant and cynical... until the first month passed and I felt SO MUCH better and had already lost nearly 10 pounds = IN ONE MONTH ! Of JUST changing diet..  nothing else !

I'm inspired to dig out my book and copy the pages with the diet on them, and share with ya'all. It's really awesome !

Also, trust me on this one - there's a series of books called "EAT THIS, NOT THAT" that helps you to know WHICH alternatives are best when eating out or when shopping.  My wife read them and uses them constantly. You STILL get to eat something yummy, but you'll be shocked at the difference between 2 choices on the menu or at the store. Sometimes it could be a couple hundred calories less to eat something JUST as good.... problem is, we don't know... we just order and eat.  These books have big pictures and are simple and basic and to the point.  I implore you guys to snag the most recent editions off Amazon !

Oh, and this is the book that changed my life, it's contents acted upon in my life poured water on the fire of my depression, it made my gut stop feeling yucky all the time, and gave me energy (also helped tons of symptoms that are unique to my condition, but would help others with different conditions too).
I WILL find the chapter on the diet and copy it for everyone here.

You know Chris, we have few similar interests, and would most likely never be friends, but we are more alike than either of us may think. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago, but that was due to a serious bout w/depression and I just has no appetite, put most of it back on. After having been free of porn and self abuse for over a year and a half, I fell last September and have not been able to free myself since, in fact I was toying w/the idea of giving in just now, til I read this. Someone told me I need an "accountability partner", but I have no friends either, certainly no close ones that I could walk this through with. As for music, yea, I gave that dream up, seemed to get me into more trouble than what it was worth. It seems I could not have gotten under your skin at a "better time", I am truly sorry and will indeed pray for you...

I appreciate that, Mark.  I had no idea you were still struggling in that area.

I haven't quite given up on music.  I am nearly done with a blues album where I am playing 3 string and 4 string cigar box guitars.  I am just setting metal aside as I just don't have the desire to do it anymore.  I never achieve the quality I want.  With the change in style, all restraints are gone and I feel free to experiment with sounds.  Maybe folks will like it and maybe it will suck.  But, I just had to try this again.

I struggle with my weight, social awkwardness and inability to make lasting friendships, self image, etc.  Being in church ministry makes one even more lonely as parishioners seemail to only call when they want or need something.  Don't they realize that we are human too and would love to catch a movie, go for a burger, watch a hockey game, or hit a concert?  I don't listen to tons of secular music, but I would go to a show if I liked the style if someone asked.

To be honest, I wish that I had 3 or 4 musical friends who were fellow followers of Christmas who could make music together, be friends, and be the "Aaron and Hur" for one another.  Perhaps that is a pipe dream, too.

Where do musicians hang out?  Do I ever go to those places?  Even the musicians I know at church don't have the same tastes as me.  They are solely country or bluegrass.  I have tried some gig finder sites and have had no luck at all.

Just come on down to Arkansas and visit my church. I think you'll click with most (if not all) of the folks who play on worship teams. (We have about 3 different groups of worship teams who rotate weekly, age groups being from their mid 20's to mid 50's, and sometimes we even let teenagers who have the gift the chance to lead worship as well)

I know that's unlikely, but it would be cool if you could. Smile

I started putting on weight a number of years ago, but because of my migraines I can't eat much of the stuff I like anymore (or if I do I get flashing lights which is horrid).  This means I can't eat...
Chocolate
Cheese
Orange
Ice cream
Too much dried fruit

All that stuff I absolutely LOVE, but because I can't touch it any more (especially the top four) I found I lost weight.  It was hard to go through at the start, but the migraines were so bad that I had little other option.  I used to have to leave work as soon as they started, go home, lie in a dark room for an hour, throw up and then have a headache for the rest of the day.  Nasty stuff.

I had no idea migraines could be effected so by diet.  Having given up all that good stuff I sure hope you aren't plagued by those nasty migraines much at all anymore.

I've read that Dynamis has written to start a thread about the weight problems.
Shall we start a thread for this?
Or we continue posting about this here?
