PostSubject: Feeling overwhelmed   Mon Feb 29, 2016 12:55 pm

So I'm going to share enough to get my point across. I'm feeling overwhelmed.

- Church is every Sunday. We're mobile, which doesn't bother me, but that means I get there early to set up, run through the setlist (I play acoustic), play for actual service, hear the sermon, tear down, and then go home. We get to church around 8:30 and leave around 1:00.
- Worship practice is every Thursday. Except Thanksgiving, when it's on Tuesday. Usually runs 2 hours.
- My Coaching group is on Saturday morning at 7. This is only about 2 hours, but then there's homework every week and it's intense due to the self-reflection and prayer time devoted to it.
- I work a 45-50 hour work week. At a job I hate.
- I'm going to start seeing a therapist on Wednesday nights. I don't want to go into a lot of detail here but this is the big one. I'm terrified of this.

So I feel like all this has piled on me. I try to help my wife with stuff at home but usually by the time I'm actually home, I'm so done with the day I just want to go to bed. so what ends up happening is I don't do anything or (like last night) we're painting my son's room until well past midnight.

I want to cut out something but I have no idea what I could cut out. I've been looking for a new job since October 2011 but that door hasn't opened so I've realized that God probably wasn't telling me to look and have since given up.

Well, there's plenty there to chew on. thanks...

Sending up prayers for you now my friend.  That is a LOT indeed.

Have you considered taking a break from serving as much as you do at church?  Sometimes taking a break for a bit from serving is needed to recharge some.

I have. The issue is that the coaching group is designed to help find our purpose/calling and it seems counterintuitive to step down from my primary ministry in order to do that.

I'm definitely praying about it though. Thanks K.

Praying for you.  I remember playing with the worship band, being an active member in a small group and taking care of children (and their various commitments) for a few years as well.  I did take a small break from the worship band (for about a month) and feeling much more refreshed when I came back.

Hey guys - wanted to let you know I saw the therapist for the first time Wednesday and I think it's going to be very beneficial. I don't want to get into a lot of details but I would appreciate some continued prayer.

You got the prayers bud.  As for it being counterintuitive to step down from worship ministry while finding your true calling, not really.  Sometimes we get in our minds what we think we are supposed to be doing and that drowns out the real cry of our heart.  Remember, even Jesus had to take breaks from ministry in order to recharge his batteries.

Praying for you....I feel your pain.

I work 50-55 hours a week, lead a small group on Monday nights, have worship practice on Wed night, we have a Thursday night church service along with 2 services Sunday mornings. Plus I have 2 kids, 10 and 6, and all their school activities.

Sometimes I think the only thing saving my sanity is that I don't have to play every week because we rotate to give people a break.
