PostSubject: Random story of past compensation   Fri Apr 08, 2016 12:53 pm

This is a trippy story no one knows about but me and God, and now you fine folks.

When I was 12 to 13, I used to collect comic books. There was a comic book vendor in our town, named Ron, that I frequented and spent a lot of my allowance at.  Here's what a rotten kid I was - when the owner wasn't there, and this older dude was running it, I would switch price tags.  I did it a couple times and got something like a 30 dollar and 20 dollar comic books for 2 to 3 bucks.  Yes, I was THAT bad as a kid. My Mother would be horrified.  I carried that guilt into my adult-hood even though I had given the comic books away years after he closed shop.

As an adult and saved, I knew God had forgiven me, but I still felt guilty for what I had done. The man and his family who ran it were/are really nice people. (which doesn't make a difference - even if they weren't, it still wouldn't give me a right to steal like that)

Anyways, to the point of this.
Nearly 35 years later, I was having a yard sale and he and his wife showed up !  With a desire to compensate him still, but not knowing how to go about it, God made the way for me.  Ron was interested in a bunch of record albums I had (about 200 albums), worth roughly 40 to 50 bucks to me. We chatted a bit about random stuff, and he asked me how much for the LPs - I told him just take them. He said "really ? are you sure ?" And I said They're yours. He was quite pleased to have them.

Now, I realize that this is obviously not a perfect compensation. I also realize I did not do this for salvation, but rather because of salvation - because of what God has done for me. It all seems like not much of a big deal, but that day I was relieved of a guilt I'd been carrying for 30+ years, and now felt as though I could put it behind me.

So there's your story of the day - haha !  cheers

Reminds me of the story of Zaccheus. Only, you're a little taller.

Cool account, great that God gave you an opportunity to help make right one of your past sins. Thumbs Up

Thanks. The key in that story is this line:
Quote :
"And I said They're yours"
Because in my book, they WERE already his. It was a cool way to make compensation without making a big to-do about it. He probably wouldn't have even cared, or maybe didn't even realized a punk kid ripped him off 35 years ago -haha !
