Pulling Teeth!

Strewth, it's hard work, it's just like pulling teeth!  I post a picture of my kids on facebook and I get lots of likes and some comments.  I post some funny video, and lots of folks look at it.  I post a link to a news report and it get folks reading it.

Then I post a link about Christian music and no one makes a comment, or even likes it!!!!  I posted about Chris' new album, and mentioned that I co-wrote one of the songs (hoping that it would generate a sale or two) but no one even says a word!  (Apart from you guys here and one other).  What is it about Christian rock music?  And it's not just Chris' album, for I have posted about Theocracy, Skillet and Matthew Ward in the past and get nothing, or virtually nothing in the way of response.

I think we guys are all alone!  We all need to live together in a commune somewhere and ignore the world, then we can rock in peace!

I have the same deal when I post pretty much anything about any Christian rock band on my facebook....it usually just goes completely ignored by all of my friends.

Quit using the "Christian" tag and see if anyone listens.  While I make no bones with my music that I am a follower of Christ, some people just won't buy "Christian music".  Take off that tag and see what happens.

That's the trouble though.  I didn't mention the word, just to see if folk clicked on the link, and I go no interest at all (or virtually none).  However, probably 3/4 of the folk I'm friends with are Christian anyway...

Oh well, I guess I'm one of the few.  We are a select bunch!

Probably not, he's very picky when it comes to friending people on bookface.  I had to beg, pester, and cajole him for almost a year before he relented and accepted my request.

Don't feel too bad about this, bro.  At least it isn't your album that is getting that little attention.  I don't want to be that guy who posts every day in every page I can find, but I may have to.  I will be a bit more pushy once the album becomes available digitally everywhere.

I've got to get over my fear and take this stuff out and play.  I've got to find coffee houses, open mic nights, etc. and just do the songs with me and my guitar.  That's how you build interest.  Then, you build an email list and connect with the fans regularly.  Indie artists that are doing these things (playing anywhere they can and email lists) are the ones selling their music.
