D.O.G. Disciples Of God - new heavy band

As much as the band would probably not like you to say this you could classify this release as a Christian Metal Super Group! When you have pro players like Terry Russell of Holy Soldier and Neon Cross on drums and singing lead vocals as well as Larry Farkas of Vengeance Rising and Die Happy on guitars along side Don Webster of Neon Cross on guitar and lastly featuring the bass talents of Terry’s son Colton Russell on bass one might say it’s got a bit of that going on here. BUT, the sound here is something completely different then all the aforementioned bands, this music is on the straight up heavy metal side with vocals from Terry tending to sound a little like a cross between Lemmy and James Hetfield.

Shut up and take my money!

I like this!  It is aggressive without having to have "bark like a dog" vocals.  Also, the drummer knows how to use the bass drum for accenting instead of playing nothing but a double bass riff all the time.  The guitars are crunchy with some powerhouse riffage and tasteful leads that fit the song-- not written for the song to showcase.  Lastly, it actually has a Christian message that isn't hidden under subtle poetic lyrics that only the writer and a couple of wordsmith fans understand.

What am I saying?  I have already preordered mine!

I just think I might have to get this one.  The music almost boarders on old-school thrash, but still quite melodic.  I'm not really much of a thrash fan, but this sounds pretty cool.

I'd definitely like to hear more samples of this.

I started listening to it and was a bit like .... naaaa, not my thing.  But it's kind of catchy, and by half way through I'm thinking 'this is cool, I gotta get this!'

That was exactly my experience too!

Went ahead and pre-ordered this and Holy Soldier. As much as I want it on red vinyl I chose the CD. Don't really own a copy of it. Have heard it but never owned it. So I'll have D.O.G. & Last Train coming at the same time I think they are released on the same day

Did any of you actually stay still while listening to that? Got me moving anyway.

Anybody else not seeing the connection to Metallica that Bill Roxx refers to?

I hear some similarities to latter Metallica.  i never cared for the speedier days of Metallica.  I know--I am a true poser.  Give me hair metal or give me pop!

I do like this band, though, and look forward to the release of the album.

Me either, more Motorhead to me. But I like this first tune so a preordered it.

I am second guessing ordering Last Train. I noticed with Amazon Prime i can get it for free. So I hope the remaster is worth it. If I had known it was on Prime I prob would have waited and got it on vinyl... But would take a chance to try and get it on red. Oh well, no big deal.

I got my email on Tuesday and received the CD yesterday.  Bill just likes me better is all!

Haha! Probably so. Still no email as of Saturday.

I was a little reluctant after only hearing one song, but I went ahead and ordered this anyway.  Technically it is still on "pre-order" and not scheduled to be released until August 25th.  Not sure why Alldat got his copy so quickly.

I got my CD the other day too. The prereleased song is far and away my favorite track. And for those who didn't hear Metallica in the first track, you will hear more of it in the rest of the songs. I like this album but I don't love it. However I'm not ready to judge it until I hear it a few more times through. Sometimes albums like this have to grow on me.

Seriously, though, perhaps if you preordered earlier they would ship sooner.  I don't know why they sent me and FoJ ours so soon, but they did.
