This is starting to get costly!  I am finding some cool songs that I have never heard that will become a Christmas compilation that spans genres from country to rock.  This is gonna be awesome!

Did you ever find the Styx song? I did some searching and I think it is no longer available. I checked Amazon digital. Should be from the "Contemporary Youth Orchestra" CD. It's available on DVD pretty cheap (I have it) but the CD sells used for like 30 bucks (and after looking I am not sure it is on the CD, it might be a DVD only release).

I did not find the song.  I will go back and check, however.

Jim is supposed to be sending me a list of songs as well from his megolithic 3 hour long, non-traditional Christmas mix that he put together for an office party.  I can't wait to see his list and add it to mine!

That 38 Special track is cool, too!  I also have to find one that REO Speedwagon did.

Just heard this one today.  Very slow and ballady, but certainly not a remake of the same ad nauseum songs most artists seem to do.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one! I had it on cassette back in the 80's!

I found A Classic Rock Christmas, I knew I had it somewhere on CD. It is long out of print. Has songs from Styx, REO Speedwagon, Eddie Money, Survivor, John Waite, Mark Farner and more.

Here is something a bit different.  Oh, you will still hear traditional Christmas songs.  What you will hear differently is them done in a style of a popular artist like Rush, Van Halen, AC/DC with a total mashup.  While not treading out anything really new, this could be fun!

Oh yeah -- I have a CD by December People! Forgot all about it! All original tunes, let me look and see if it is out of print or not.

Since I like prog, I love the December People album. Also have A Proggy Christmas.

My favorite, of course, are the Theocracy songs. Also like TSO and Jeff Scheetz. Oh, and Johnny Mathis' first one!  What a Face

Liked that Slade one Fundy shared. I used to have several of their albums when I listened to secular music.

If you want some modern jazzy rock, check out Steve Lukather's Santamental.

The 2 Merry Axemas volumes have a wide variety done by many famous folks.

I have enough Christmas music to play 24/7 for at least a week.  santa

I have discovered that Lynrd Skynrd, .38 Special, and Cheap Trick all have Christmas albums.  Guess what I will be playing tomorrow???

Back on the album front, I've been listening to Halford's Winter Songs and Tarja's From Ghosts and Spirits today.  The Tarja album is kind of a dark symphonic album, not symphonic metal, just symphonic.  It also has some...odd...choices (Pie Jesu from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem and "Amazing Grace").

Of course, I have always liked Northern Lights Orchestra.  Yes, I know the name turned off a lot of folks as it definitely is a ripoff of TSO.  The only thing the two groups really have in common is that they both do Christmas music.  TSO is definitely more progressive rock & metal with an orchestra while Northern Lights Orchestra is definitely more 80's hard rock.

Hadn't heard LS or CT. Wasn't impressed with the latter though Silent Night wasn't too bad. I liked the LS much better.
