Pastor Brad--Moving To Tennessee!

I didn't see an area here at CHM for "moving announcements" so I thought I'd post here 

We're moving to Cookeville, TN (40 minutes east of Nashville, right off I-40) on July 24th!  This has been in the works for a lo------------ng time... but now I can share it with all of you!

I will be the lead pastor at First Christian Church in Cookeville-----super stoked!

I know some of you all live "nearish" this area.. so perhaps we'll cross paths.

PRAISE AND PRAYER REQUEST:
We sold our house here in MI---PRAISE GOD!  But we still have the appraisal /closing to finish up... so pray that all of that goes smoothly.

Then---we have not--as of this moment--found a place to live in Cookeville.  Folks there are helping us look and I know God will provide---we'll be renting to begin with.  Appreciate your prayers on this---that we'll find a home that meets our needs and is reasonably close to the church building.

Interesting! My first job after I graduated from UT was in Cookeville (1995). We were newly married and my wife was still in school at UT. She would stay in Knoxville most of the week then come home on the weekends. Definitely a trying time on a new marriage. Sometimes when I got off work I would drive the 100 miles to Knoxville in the middle of the week then get up early the next morning and drive back to Cookeville.

I have to say we really did not enjoy our time there. It was OK but I suffered from boredom. Not a lot to do there except go out to eat. Luckily, one of my childhood friends from church went to TTU in Cookeville and we would keep each other company when i was home alone.

Brings back a lot of memories. It was too slow of a town for me at the time and we were only there 2 years but I think you will like the southern hosptiality there, lots of fine people there.

I worked at 95.9 when it was a country station (I think it is light rock now) and B-93 when it was light rock but it's classic rock now.

Congrats on the move! Get ready for some HOT summers! Plenty of snow in the winter as well I seem to remember we had more snow there than we did in Knoxville.

There are also some great water fall parks there. Burgess Falls is awesome make sure you check it out sometime.

Congratulations and great news!  While we will be about 40 miles apart, we are close enough to possibly put together a band.  We will at least be close enough to record together. 

When do you arrive here in TN?  I definitely want to get together!!!

Congrats!!! I visited Nashville only once in the early 90's. However now I do have a store there, but I still have not visited it yet. If Cookeville is a sleepy little town then it sounds like it's right up my alley! I'm not a fan of city life Besides it's what you make of it just like anything else I guess. Good luck!!

Cookeville USED to be a sleepy little town but it has grown exponentially in the last 20 years.  It is a far cry from being a huge metropolis, but it has grown up quickly.  It is also a college town as it is home to Tennessee Tech.  A lot of kids go to college there as it is still way more affordable than Vanderbilt or UT.

Thanks guys... yeah--we really like Cookville, Aldat is right... it's grown a lot over the past decade.  I'm not a BIG city guy... Cookville is in that 30-40 thousand range... with 100 thousand in the surrounding county.. and 40 minutes from the east edge of Nashville.  Location and size is perfect for us.  

And we have friends in Franklin, Knoxville and of course wherever you live Alldat! :-)  So, I'm really looking forward to the whole experience... hoping to retire in Tennessee!

I am in a little town in Wilson Co. called Watertown.  It is close to Lebanon.  We are known for absolutely nothing, but we like it here!

My in-laws live in Crossville.  They go to Cookville for the "big city" amenities.  Safe travels and give me a wave on your way down 69.

We are in!  Unpacked---no---not even close, but we are officially in Cookeville!
