Joshua's Creed - Update

We're still hunting for a vocalist.  Man, this gets old.  For now, here's a sample of the latest song:

Thanks!  I think Guy Ritter would be a little outside of my budget.

It depends on what you want vocally.  Are you wanting higher range, lower range, clean, or raspy vocals?  I could take a crack at a song and see how it sounds.  If you don't like what I do, I would not be offended at all.  If you love it, then I'd be glad to work on someone else's project for a change.

What I want is Jamie Rowe or Sebastian Bach.  I was going to make a joke about them not returning my phone calls but Jamie has messaged me back every time I've reached out to him with a question.

Ultimately, I want a voice that fits the music.  Even if it's outside of what I think my ideal is.  I've been waiting on a guy but I'm done waiting so the feelers are going back out.

Good things come to those who wait and all that stuff. It'll happen.

Personally, I think a vocalist who sounds more like Sebastian Bach than Jamie Rowe would suit the music best. No disrespect or anything like that, I'm just responding to your comment that you want a voice that fits the music is all (and that's just based on the tiny sample I've heard, so I might be completely off-base there).


Have you posted a request on a band forum? I don't know how things work in the US, but I can't imagine it's much different from here in NZ. People post all sorts of requests on the forums here. Anything from requests for used equipment and cheap studio time to bassists and vocalists. You'd just need a sampler of the songs you've got and then ask for vocal samples in return. You'd probably want to be pretty clear about what you're looking for so you don't get a bunch of unsuitable suitors...Christian lyrics, clean vocals with a bit-o-grit and a good range, set up for recording, sounds somewhat like.... etc I'll pray you find your man, Derek.

I've posted in other forums, music groups on Facebook, on our Facebook page, asked other musicians if they know of a vocalist, tried doing it myself (not so good).

I just asked my son if he'd be interested and able to do it.  He's had a pretty full plate over the last few years so I've been waiting to ask him.  My wife said just ask him now.  So I did.  He just responded to let him think about it and he'll get back to me.

That'd be neat. Make it a real family affair.

It would be pretty cool.  We'll see if he's up for it and if he can dig in and give it the "oomph" it needs.  He's definitely got a great voice.

Any update? Were you able to convince your son? Even if he were to only sing on one track that would still be really cool.

Yeah.  I've got another guy on the line but he's not showing timely promise either.  Nice guy, though.
