| OK, rather than bury the response in the other thread I wanted to start a new thread to draw your attention. As of noon today, 2/29, we found out Ryan is cancer-free. The doctors did an MRI on Monday 2/25 and they did not tell us the results all week. Finally, after they had intensely studied the results to make sure of what they were seeing, they told us that Ryan's tumor is gone. He has radiation necrosis, which is a residual effect of the radiation therapy he had over a year ago. The necrosis causes swelling and that swelling is effecting his body greatly. The reason is because the swelling is occuring right on the brainstem, which controls every function in the body basically. The necrosis will go away eventually, and they do not know if there will be any permanent effects. They are going to continue extensive therapy to keep his muscles functioning properly, but as of now he does not have cancer.  |

That is great news Nazpastor.
One of my son's best friends was treated for lukemia a little over a year ago, and he has also had post-treatment complications like this. But thankfully his cancer has not returned either.

That is great news Nazpastor.
One of my son's best friends was treated for lukemia a little over a year ago, and he has also had post-treatment complications like this. But thankfully his cancer has not returned either. |
The thing is, Ryan's cancer had returned. Two weeks ago today they diagnosed him with a new tumor. They gave him one dose of chemotherapy and the tumor is now gone. The necrosis will go away in time, but the tumor is gone already. |

| Thank you all for your prayers and your support. He still has a long way to go in therapy to regain his muscular abilities. The necrosis hit him almost like a stroke in slow motion. It took about 4 weeks for him to get to the state he is currently in, but he is working his way back slowly. My mom told me last night that he went to therapy on Friday and they worked and worked with him until he collapsed. He never gave up, he just kept going until his body said, "Enough" and he went down.
Please keep him in your prayers, he is such an amazing kid and God has something big in his future I believe |
