Subject: Which Hulk Do You Prefer Mon Jan 09, 2017 7:17 am
I did the Spider-Man poll, so it only made sense to do one for the Hulk as well.
This one is not as cut and dried a choice for me. I liked the campy, comic-book style to the first one, but I like Edward Norton better than Eric Bana. On the flip side, I prefer Jennifer Connelly over Lip ... er, Liv ... Tyler, and Sam Elliot has never played a bad role IMO; he was certainly a better father/general than William Hurt. However (another flip side), I really, really, really like Tim Roth, and I thought he did an excellent job as Emil Blonsky before the final transition to the Abomination.
Then there's The Avengers' Hulk, who seemed to start out where the first one left off (remember, he ended up in South America, which is where The Black Widow found him in The Avengers). As an overall character I like him best; I think the actor plays the part well, and the interactions between Hulk and the Avengers is good: close enemies or distant friends? I do have to say, though, that I'm not crazy about the love interest between the Widow and Banner/Hulk, but it is what it is.

I've got to go with the Avengers Hulk. That version is the closest to the comics. My second would be the Ed Norton film. While the Ang Lee version was fun, it was too cartoony to me.

I haven't seen all of these, but not surprising as I was never much of a Hulk fan. I do like the Avengers version of Hulk though.

I too was looking for Lou. I couldn't stand the first new Hulk movie and the Avengers one hasn't really grabbed me either. I haven't seen the most recent Hulk. I will take Jennifer Connely over Liv Tyler anyday. And 9/10 times over Scarlett Johanssen.

The point of the polls was about new Marvel movies, not "who's your favorite hulk ever" or "who's your favorite Spider-Man ever". If we were to do that with Spidey we'd have to also include the cheesy 70's and 80's attempts at making a Spidey movie. And what if we did one for Superman? Oh my goodness, there'd be a ton of them. Also, Lou's hulk was a series, and my poll was about comparing the movies.

In the heading, yes. But the polls in the post were more specific. I tell my kids all the time, don't base your answers/opinions on the title/headline; read the article. Essentially, the old "don't just the book" cliche.

I have never really understood the actual phrase you were trying to use. If I am going to buy or check out a book from a library, they have a synopsis of the story on the back or on the inside of the dust cover. Isn't the cover how you are SUPPOSED to judge a book? I mean, without that cover, I could dive into a book that I don't think would really interest me just because I don't know a little about what is there. You HAVE to judge the book by the cover or you probably won't get the book!!!

I realize you are jesting, but for the sake of argument you are taking the phrase for a context other than what it means. "Don't judge a book by its cover" means don't judge it (or someone) by it's appearance, not don't judge it by the writing on the cover as you imply. If this site was originally stated as "don't judge a book by its binding." That site also indicates the phrase was started in 1944, when books did not have anything on the cover/binding except a title.

To me the animation in the The Hulk was a big let down, next to the story, which was abysmal. The Incredible Hulk was much better. The Avengers Hulk is by far my favorite, reminds me more of the comics, but I'm not a big fan of Mark Ruffalo's Banner. Just not feeling it with him.
