This is one of those shows that I never watched very much in the 80's (maybe a handful of episodes here or there). So there is no nostalgia factor for me. Looks like they did keep some of the humor from the original. I will be interested to hear what an old school fan thinks of the reboot.

I have to admit, I had some reservations concerning the reworked MacGyver but it works. I still like the original better. So far this looks really good so I'll have to give it a chance. I wonder is somewhere down the line they will have Tom Selleck do a cameo in it seeing as he had the lead role in the original series.

I was slightly interested until Magnum jumped out of the car head onto a speeding truck then jumped from the truck to the helicopter.
Higgins was a pretentious fussbudget in the original series which added flavor to the show.

Looks like it might be a good one-off movie, but I can't see this supportable as a series. Concerned it'll be too action-driven (it is from the F&F guys) without the good mysteries and cases. Also, Higgins was a great comedic foil for Magnum, but looks like they're trying to add a sexual twist to it.
That said, changing it up so that TC and Rick are more like partners in the PI work rather than reluctant accomplices is interesting, and starting off with a fourth partner getting killed could be a good setup for a long-running story arc. From the little we see, TC and Rick seem well-cast.
