Yep, we get ice more than snow here in the Fort Worth/Dallas area.  Amarillo gets more snow.

We are expecting a winter storm here in the northeast just in thyme for Thanksgiving

Oh no! more winter storms. 

I go through this crazy cycle every year. During the summer, I miss the winter. During the winter, I miss the summer.

Tuesday-Wednesday is supposed to be very snowy. Looks like I'll be passing everyone on the highway again

Tomorrow I've to bring my little bunny friend to the vet.
He needs a surgery to make his ears better, but it makes me scared.

Well, today was deemed a snow day by the transportation bosses… no buses today. And there was relatively little snow (maybe 4-5 inches), compared to what is normally a cancellation.

IN 7 years of living here we've had one snow day and we can get 8 inches overnight.

Usually, here, the real risk is freezing rain. We rarely get "snow" days anymore.

Be sure it isn't too slippy out there

Actually, I learned the term "slippy" when I visited some friends in Pittsburgh

Plus, I've heard it on Midsomer Murders as well.

When you said slippy, I thought of Slippy from Star Fox. Mostly Star Fox 64. I definitely wouldn't want to be near Slippy too much. He can be really annoying.

Just got my car back from the shop yesterday (spent $500 on new brakes and a new caliper). On my way to work this morning it started acting up...looks like my fuel pump might be going out. When it rains, it pours.

While in years past we've had a lot more snow, for the past 10 years we'd consider it blizzard conditions to get that much snow--all winter long!

We have had so much snow last years that I hope on a snowless winter this time.

How old is the car?

It's only 10 years old but it has about 230,000 miles  on it.
It's certainly due to have a few things break.

Mine is about 10 years old too, but it only has about 150,000 miles on it. It's needed a few repairs (like a seized brake), as well as some touch-ups on the rust holes, but it's holding together pretty well.

With a car, it's usually true that when it rains, it pours (I remember once when one of our old cars needed a gazillion repairs at once). When a car reaches a certain resale price, it's sometimes not worth it to fix it, and best to get a new(er) car and get rid of the old one.
